Arcanum Unbound 1.7.0 — The Buried Liturgies
Arcanum Unbound 1.7.0 is a darker, stranger, more world-rooted update.
Where 1.6.0 pushed the mod’s identity outward through relics, sigils, and deep-sea discovery, The Buried Liturgies turns that pressure inward. This update adds hidden structures, new hostile presences, sharper world flavor, and a stronger sense that parts of the world were already wrong long before the player arrived.
Highlights
New structures to discover
Two new structures now appear naturally in the world:
Hollow Cathedral
- a rare Dark Forest structure with multiple variants
- now comes with proper chest loot instead of empty containers
- tied directly into new hostile structure-specific enemies
Birch House
- a strange Birch Forest structure with its own chest loot
- built as a quieter, more personal discovery compared to the Cathedral
Both structures now generate more cleanly and no longer warp themselves against the terrain in ugly ways.
New enemies
Reliquary Husk
A slow, heavy, deeply unpleasant guardian tied to the Hollow Cathedral.
This is not meant to be a flashy bruiser. It is meant to feel like you broke open something ceremonial and old, and now it is standing back up to correct that mistake.
Pale Chorister
A thinner, more ritual-tainted threat tied to the same structure family.
The Pale Chorister is not built to win through raw tankiness. It marks the player, creates delayed follow-up pressure, and makes fights feel dirty and wrong instead of straightforward.
Deepwater Lampspine
The first real predator of the Deepwater Abyss has been expanded further.
It now feels more committed to its role as a hostile trench creature:
- stronger behavior identity
- more oppressive audio
- better presence in the biome itself
Deepwater Abyss improvements
The Deepwater Abyss has been pushed further toward the kind of place it was always supposed to be:
- larger biome patches
- darker water
- deeper trench shaping
- more convincing separation from ordinary ocean
It now reads much more like a real “bad place” in the world instead of just a recolored water zone.
Structure Compass fixed
The Structure Compass has been repaired.
It now behaves like a real tracking tool again:
- the model updates properly
- the hand/inventory behavior is no longer broken
- the destination no longer wipes itself
- it can once again lead the player toward its intended structure target
Artifact and imprint improvements
The imprinting system was pushed further this update.
More supported imprint weapons
The imprint template now supports more weapon types, including:
- the artifact sword
- the mace
Better persistence
Imprinted weapons now survive relogs far more reliably instead of silently dropping parts of their state.
Artifact visuals
The artifact layer was polished again with a more readable visual direction:
- cleaner hand and inventory presentation
- stronger texture work
- more variation for artifact weapons
The artifact sword and pickaxe now have a wider visual range than before, without losing their original feel.
Sigil presentation
Sigils continued their transition into a more carved, physical, stone-bound look.
This pass focused less on raw quantity and more on presentation:
- stronger silhouette language
- more readable branch identity
- more distinct special sigils
- a better sense that these are ritual objects, not flat icons
Guidebook improvements
The guidebook got another real usability pass.
Better front page
The first page now acts more like a hub with direct buttons for:
- Start
- Artifacts
- Bosses
- Crafts
Better progression order
Recipe browsing was rearranged so the guidebook walks the player through the mod more naturally:
- basic mana first
- stations next
- sigils after that
Text cleanup
Broken Russian text was repaired on important guidebook pages and newly added content.
Flavor and world voice
Smaller touches were added to make the world feel less inert:
These are small touches, but they help the mod feel haunted instead of merely populated.
Technical cleanup
This update also included a meaningful cleanup pass under the hood:
- cleaned part of the player data and persistence debt
- improved relog stability for mana and imprinted weapons
- removed several older fallback-style fixes that were hiding real data/resource problems
The result is a healthier foundation for future content, especially for the next phase of the mod.
Version direction
1.7.0 — The Buried Liturgies is the point where Arcanum Unbound starts feeling less like “systems added onto a world” and more like a world that already had its own buried rites, broken custodians, and bad places waiting to be found.
