Arcane Realms: Nightmare — 1.0.0

Minecraft 26.1.2 • NeoForge • Release

The first release of the new Nightmare: a dimension of endless night and folk horror, reached only in your sleep. It replaces the old 1.9.9 addon, and nothing from that version carries over.

Added

Entering the Nightmare

  • Hang a Nightmare Catcher from a solid ceiling. Any bed within a 7×7×7 cube around it is affected.
  • Sleep through the night in the Overworld in an affected bed to wake up in the Nightmare. Your first visit starts in the nearest Howling Woods; later visits return you to where you left.
  • Dawn in the Overworld wakes everyone beside their bed. Dying in the Nightmare also wakes you, healed and with your inventory.
  • There is no other way in. Beds explode and respawn anchors do not work inside the dimension.

Four biomes

  • Howling Woods, Withered Harvest, Grave Moor and Witch Fen, with their own stone, ores, silver, trees and plants.
  • New woods: Howling, Yew and Willow, with their full sets of building blocks.
  • Wildlife in every biome: the Crimson Weaver and the Pale Stag, the Plague Rat and the Black Goat, the Skeletal Gravedigger and the Omen Owl, the Bog Leech and the Witch Toad. Vampire Bats live in the caves of the whole dimension.
  • Smaller structures with chests in every biome.

Five dungeons

  • Hunters' Lodge (Howling Woods): the Beast of the Full Moon rules the trophy hall.
  • Harvest Farmstead (Withered Harvest): the Wicker Man waits in the harvest ring.
  • Moor Churchyard (Grave Moor): the Headless Horseman rides among the graves.
  • Coven's Roost (Witch Fen): the Swamp Grandmother and her Chicken-Legged Hut keep the great cauldron.
  • Crimson Castle: its Relic Gate opens only to the relics of the four other bosses. The Crimson Count awaits on his throne.
  • Every dungeon has an antechamber, two wings, guardians and a two-phase boss with its own chest. A boss left without hunters goes back to its post and heals.
  • Every creature of the dimension drops Nightmare Essence. The first four bosses also drop their relic: the Beast Fang, the Wicker Heart, the Horseman's Head and the Grandmother's Eye; the Count leaves the Crimson Signet.
  • The Dungeon Finder tracks all five dungeons.

Trick weapons

  • Ten trick weapons, two for each boss, forged with the Forge Rite of Arcane Realms: the boss's relic goes on the Forge Core.
    • Beast of the Full Moon: Serrated Cleaver and Hunting Axe.
    • Wicker Man: Reaper's Sickle and Thresher Flail.
    • Headless Horseman: Vertebra Cane and Tombstone Blade.
    • Swamp Grandmother: Hex Twinblades and Cauldron Hammer.
    • Crimson Count: Crimson Rapier-Pistol and Sanguine Blade.
  • Each has two forms. Switch with the middle mouse button, with a transform attack in between. Each form has its own moveset and finisher.
  • Each weapon has three spells that grow with mastery: one for each form and one that needs both.

Gear

  • Silver: ore, ingots and nuggets, the Silver Sword and the Silver Axe.
  • Hunter's Garb: tricorne, coat, trousers and boots, stronger against the creatures of the Nightmare.

Guide Book

  • A Nightmare chapter covers entering the dimension, the biomes, the five dungeons, relics and essence, silver, the Hunter's Garb and the trick weapons.
