Description
Hang a Nightmare Catcher over your bed, sleep through the night and wake up somewhere else. The Nightmare is a dimension where it is always night, built from the folk tales people used to tell in the dark: werewolves and harvest cults, a horseman without a head, a witch in the fen and a count in his castle.
Nightmare is an addon for Arcane Realms.
Getting in and out
- Hang the Nightmare Catcher from a solid ceiling above your beds. Sleep through the night in the Overworld to dream your way in.
- Dawn wakes you beside your bed. Dying in the Nightmare wakes you too, healed and with everything you carried.
- There is no other way in, and beds and respawn anchors do not work inside.
Four biomes
The Howling Woods, the Withered Harvest, the Grave Moor and the Witch Fen, each with its own stone, ores, trees, plants and wildlife, and smaller structures to loot. Silver can be mined throughout the dimension.
Five dungeons
Each dungeon has an antechamber, two wings, guardians and a boss with two phases.
- Hunters' Lodge: a ruined hunting lodge, its kennels still full. The Beast of the Full Moon rules the trophy hall.
- Harvest Farmstead: a farm taken by a harvest cult. The Wicker Man waits in the harvest ring.
- Moor Churchyard: an old church and its graves. The Headless Horseman rides among them.
- Coven's Roost: stilt huts around a great cauldron, kept by the Swamp Grandmother and her Chicken-Legged Hut.
- Crimson Castle: its gate opens only to the relics of the four other bosses. The Crimson Count awaits on his throne.
The Dungeon Finder of Arcane Realms tracks all five.
Trick weapons
Every boss leaves a relic, and every relic forges two trick weapons at the Forge Rite of Arcane Realms. That makes ten weapons, among them the Serrated Cleaver, the Hex Twinblades and the Crimson Rapier-Pistol. Each one:
- has two forms, switched with the middle mouse button with an attack on the way;
- has its own moveset for each form;
- has three spells that grow with mastery.
