Arcane Realms: Mythos — 1.0.0

Minecraft 26.1.2 • NeoForge • Release

The first release of Mythos: creatures of myth and folklore living in the Overworld's own biomes. Mythos adds no biomes and no dungeons. Each creature has a power that acts on the world around it, and the two bosses sleep in small natural lairs.

Added

Creatures

  • Kodama: small tree spirits born from the oak, birch, dark oak or cherry they live by. They bless saplings and plant new ones, echo note blocks and bells, and slip into a hollow of their tree when frightened. Strike one, or cut a tree near it, and it calls roots out of the ground against you. Cutting its own tree makes it wilt, and brings Bad Luck.
  • Cockatrice: a rooster with a serpent's tail, found in forest clearings and meadows. Hold its glare and you turn to stone from the feet up; look away and the stone crumbles. A raised shield throws the glare back. The ground it stares across turns to stone for a while. Its roasted meat gives Stoneskin.
  • Pegasus: winged horses grazing in meadows, cherry groves and windswept hills, taking off as a herd when startled. Where a pegasus lands, a spring may well up. Approach one while it drinks and tame it with a Golden Bridle; it flies under its rider, climbing on its breath and gliding down.
  • Knocker: the goblin of the deep mines, tapping the rock with its hammer. It never attacks, but strike it and it plays a trick on you: torches pop off, an item gets buried in gravel, or the ceiling comes down. Then it sinks into the stone.
  • Griffin: a pair guards each nest on the high peaks and hunts the animals of the mountains. Come too close and they warn, then attack. Take an egg, hatch it on a hay bale and raise the chick into a juvenile and then an adult that fights at your side. A saddled adult is a flying mount that dives on what is below it.

Forest Elder (boss)

  • A giant of living oak asleep in the hollow of an ancient oak, in a rare clearing of forests, flower forests and dark forests.
  • It wakes when someone cuts a tree, kills a kodama or sets a fire in its lair, or lays a Forest Wreath on its altar.
  • It fights with root swipes, lines and rings of roots, thorn seeds and walking sprouts. Below half health it kneels and drains the trees around it to heal; cut or burn a tree to break the thread.
  • When it falls, an ancient sapling sprouts in the hollow, and three days later the Elder is back.
  • Drops the Elder's Crown, a helmet that heals you in forests, and the Ancient Seed, which grows a great oak.

Crystal Dragon (boss)

  • An endgame dragon asleep in a crystal grotto beneath the mountains.
  • It fights on the ground and in the air: claws, tail, a freezing crystal breath and crystal spikes. At half health its ice armor shatters and it turns faster and more dangerous.
  • Drops Crystal Dragon Scales.
  • Crystal Scale armor: netherite armor upgraded with scales and a smithing template. The full set protects against freezing and forms a crystal shield that absorbs a blow every 30 seconds.
  • Crystal Dragon Sceptre: a catalyst that fires the Royal Shard and casts Sovereign's Breath, Coronation, Crystal Rift, Tribute and Decree. Crystal wings open on your back while you cast.

Effects

  • Petrification, from the cockatrice's glare.
  • Stoneskin, from its roasted meat: more armor, less knockback and immunity to the glare.
