⭐ Enchantment Progression
The Arcane Nexus uses nearby bookshelf power and Arcane Pylons to determine which enchantment levels are available.
With the default configuration:
| Setup | Available level |
|---|---|
| 15 bookshelf power + 0 pylons | Level I |
| 15 bookshelf power + 1 pylon | Level II |
| 15 bookshelf power + 2 pylons | Level III |
| 15 bookshelf power + 3 pylons | Level IV |
| 15 bookshelf power + 4 pylons | True maximum level |
The final stage does not stop at Level V.
When the complete setup is active, the Nexus unlocks the actual maximum level provided by the enchantment or another installed mod. An enchantment with a maximum level of XII can therefore reach Level XII, but only with the fully powered Nexus.
Removing a required bookshelf or pylon immediately lowers the available limit again.
🔷 Arcane Pylons
Arcane Pylons provide the additional power required for stronger enchantment levels.
- Up to four pylons are required by default.
- The default detection range is 5 blocks.
- Only pylons detected by the Nexus count toward progression.
- Pylon requirements and range can be changed by the server owner.
- Increasing the configured number of required pylons automatically spreads the intermediate level progression across the new requirement.
The true modded maximum is unlocked only after every configured pylon and bookshelf requirement has been fulfilled.
📚 Bookshelf Power
Bookshelves provide the base enchanting power of the Nexus.
- The default requirement is 15 bookshelf power.
- The default range follows a Vanilla-style enchanting setup.
- Modded bookshelves can contribute through NeoForge enchantment power.
- The required power and detection range are configurable.
- Extended bookshelf ranges require a valid connection to the Nexus.
⚙️ Server Configuration
Arcane Nexus must be installed on both the dedicated server and every connecting client.
All progression rules are controlled by the server. Local client settings cannot override the active server configuration.
The configuration file is generated per world:
world/serverconfig/arcane_nexus-server.toml
Server owners can configure:
required_bookshelf_power— required total bookshelf power.bookshelf_radius— bookshelf detection range.required_pylons— number of pylons needed for the complete setup.pylon_radius— pylon detection range.base_level_without_pylons— available level without pylons.staged_maximum_level— maximum intermediate progression level.scale_levels_with_bookshelves— whether bookshelf power affects intermediate levels.
Setting a bookshelf or pylon requirement to 0 disables that requirement.
🧩 Mod Compatibility
Arcane Nexus reads enchantments from the active game registry.
This allows it to support:
- Vanilla enchantments
- Data-driven enchantments
- Enchantments added by NeoForge mods
- Enchantments with levels above normal Vanilla limits
- Compatible modded bookshelf power values
Some mods use completely separate enchanting systems. Those systems may require an additional compatibility integration.
