Arcane Horizons: Equipment & Grimoires

Bring the Iron's Spells ecosystem together.

Arcane Horizons: Equipment & Grimoires is a Forge 1.20.1 expansion and compatibility mod centered around Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks and its growing addon ecosystem.

The goal is not simply to add another collection of spells and equipment. Equipment & Grimoires is designed to improve the systems surrounding magic while helping independently developed Iron's Spells addons work together as a more connected magical ecosystem.

📖 The Master Grimoire

One of the central features of the project is the Master Grimoire.

Instead of needing separate spellbooks for every school or addon, the Master Grimoire is designed to become a player's expandable magical library.

It is intended to:

• Learn and preserve spells from multiple schools

• Support additional magic schools added by compatible addons

• Expand automatically as new supported schools are discovered

• Merge spellbook progression without destroying existing spells

• Separate a large learned spell library from the spells actively equipped

• Preserve addon spell information whenever possible

The goal is a spellbook that can grow alongside a large magic-focused modpack.

✨ Magic School Compatibility

Iron's Spells addons can introduce entirely new schools of magic, spells, equipment, attributes, and progression systems.

Equipment & Grimoires is being designed to help bridge those additions.

The project supports the original magical schools while being built to accommodate additional schools introduced by compatible addons.

Rather than requiring every addon to know about every other addon, Arcane Horizons can provide a shared compatibility layer between them.

🔮 Improved Upgrade Orbs

Upgrade Orbs are being expanded into a deeper progression system.

Magic-school upgrades can increase a player's specialization in a particular school.

The planned progression allows school amplification to build toward +100%, after which additional progression can provide up to 50% resistance to that same school of magic.

Mana and general protection upgrades use their own progression rules and can reach higher limits without incorrectly granting school-specific resistance.

The goal is to make magical equipment progression powerful while keeping each upgrade type meaningful.

Equipment & Grimoires also expands the equipment side of the magic system.

The project is designed around:

• Magical armor

• Spellbooks and grimoires

• Upgrade slots

• Magic-school specialization

• Mana progression

• Defensive progression

• Spell amplification

• Magic resistance

• Accessory compatibility

• Equipment from compatible addons

Rather than every addon creating another isolated equipment progression system, compatible equipment should be able to participate in a broader magical build.

💎 Expanded Equipment Upgrades

The equipment upgrade system is designed to recognize available accessory and equipment slots dynamically instead of assuming every modpack has exactly the same setup.

This allows Arcane Horizons to work more naturally alongside compatible equipment and accessory mods.

Upgrades are intended to be safely applied, validated, and preserved so that expanding a player's equipment does not unnecessarily destroy previous progression.

🧙 Addon Compatibility

A major purpose of Equipment & Grimoires is serving as a bridge between Iron's Spells addons.

If two addons expand the same magic ecosystem but were never specifically designed to interact with each other, Arcane Horizons can provide a place for compatibility rules between them.

That can include:

• Spells

• Equipment

• Upgrade systems

• Accessory slots

• Recipes

• Progression

Supported addons remain separate mods. Arcane Horizons does not exist to replace them—it exists to help them cooperate.
