Applied Dire Things
An Applied Energistics 2 addon for Just Dire Things.
The goo of Just Dire Things transforms blocks in the world, but goo blocks have no inventory, so your ME network cannot use them. Applied Dire Things adds multiblock machines that run the same recipes on items and fluids as real ME devices, in the style of ExtendedAE and Advanced AE. Put an AE2 cable on the controller, add patterns, and request from the terminal.
Machines
Goo Reactor
- Runs the Just Dire Things goo recipes on items, e.g. Iron Block → Raw Ferricore ore.
- The ore comes out already mined (3–4 Raw Ferricore).
- With a Smelter Module it comes out smelted, and in block mode you get the ore block itself.
- The tier of the goo block in the centre decides which recipes run.
Dire Refinery
- Makes Just Dire Things fluids without buckets: Polymorphic Fluid, Time Fluid, the T2–T4 fuels, portal fluid and goo refining.
- Works with 1,000 mB + catalyst → 1,000 mB.
Time Chamber
Time Crystals across dimensions, fully automated. Build one chamber in the Overworld, one in the Nether and one in the End, then link them with any wrench. The Budding Time Crystal:
- charges in each dimension (Overworld → 1, Nether → 2, End → 3);
- moves by itself from chamber to chamber;
- grows Time Crystals that go straight into your ME network;
- goes back to the Overworld when its charge runs out.
The budding block itself never enters the network. Only the crystals do.
Echoing Chamber (only with Just Dyna Things)
- Grows any Echoing Budding from Just Dyna Things: time crystal, amethyst, certus and every other one your modpack has.
- Pulls Time Fluid from the network and sends the mined clusters into ME storage.
Gooey Infusion Chamber
- Printed Silicon + Ferricore / Blazegold / Celestigem / Eclipse Alloy → Printed Gooey Circuit I–IV.
- The AE2 Inscriber then turns them into Gooey Processors, which are used in the recipes of the mod.
How the multiblocks work
- Every multiblock is a 3×3×3 box of Dire Casing, Dire Glass and Dire Port, with the controller in the middle of one wall and the core block (goo, crystal or budding) in the centre.
- When the box is complete, the walls connect into one machine.
- An AE2 cable on the controller joins the machine to the network. It uses 1 channel and takes FE from the network's AE energy (1 AE = 2 FE).
- The controllers that craft have 9 pattern slots (processing patterns), so no Pattern Provider is needed. Results go straight into ME storage.
- The old way works too: a Pattern Provider, pipe or chest against a Dire Port.
- Upgrade modules: Speed (up to 4), Parallel Core (up to 2) and Smelter.
Features
- AE2-style screens: upgrade side panel, toolbar buttons, AE2 slots and icons.
- JEI: pages for every machine (Reactor, Refinery, Time Chamber, Echoing Chamber, Gooey Infusion) and a 3D page showing how to build the multiblock.
- AE2 guide (GuideME): an Applied Dire Things section with interactive 3D scenes, in English and Portuguese. Hold G on an item to open its page.
- Jade: status and progress, ME connection, why a box does not form, the crystal's charge and the linked target. Formed walls show which machine they belong to.
- AE2 Blackout support: turn on the built-in Applied Dire Blackout resource pack next to AE2 Blackout and the blocks go dark too. The screens follow the AE2 screen colours on their own.
- Server config (
config/applieddire-server.toml): times, FE costs, the crystal's depletion chance and the Echoing costs, for modpack balance.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge
- Applied Energistics 2 19.2+
- Just Dire Things 1.5+
Optional: JEI, Jade, Just Dyna Things (adds the Echoing Chamber).
A note about how this mod was made
I’m not a Java developer — this mod was built with the help of AI (Claude). I wanted to contribute to the Just Dire Things and Applied Energistics 2 community and make the setup I wanted for my own modpack, and AI made that possible. I designed the features, tested everything in-game and made the decisions; the AI wrote most of the code, textures and documentation.
The mod has automated in-game tests for every machine and was tested in a real modpack, but if you find a bug or something that doesn’t feel right, please open an issue or leave a comment — feedback is very welcome. The source is MIT-licensed, so anyone can read, fix or improve it.
