What's new

What's new

  • Computers can now read and change the IO mode of an Applied Flux Flux Accessor (input, output or both), for the accessor block and for the cable part. For example, a script can stop the network feeding FE to nearby machines when its stored FE runs low.
  • Computers can also turn the accessor's fast mode on or off.
  • Mode changes made from a computer are saved with the world.
  • Applied Flux stays optional. Without it, or with an Applied Flux version this mod does not support, scripts get a clear status instead of a crash.
  • Server admins get a new config switch, on by default, that turns off changing the mode. Output and both let neighbouring blocks pull FE out of the network, so servers that turn off exporting probably want this off too.

Added

  • Flux Accessor control for Applied Flux, with three new me_bridge methods (#11) (dba7b1b)
    • getFluxMode([side]) returns {mode, fast}.
      • mode is "input", "output" or "both".
      • fast is Applied Flux's fast mode. There is no separate getter for it.
    • setFluxMode(mode [, side]) sets the mode and returns true.
      • It accepts "input", "output" or "both" in any case.
      • An unknown mode throws an error.
      • Setting the mode the accessor already has does nothing.
    • setFluxFastMode(fast [, side]) turns fast mode on or off and returns true.
    • side is the absolute world face of a part.
      • Accepted values are "up"/"top", "down"/"bottom", "north", "south", "east" and "west". Any other value throws an error.
      • It only matters on a cable with more than one Flux Accessor part. On such a cable, a call without side throws an error.
      • A Flux Accessor block ignores side.
    • When a call cannot reach an accessor, it returns nil (getFluxMode) or false (the setters), with a status as the second value:
      • NOT_FLUX_ACCESSOR: the block or cable is not a Flux Accessor.
      • APPFLUX_NOT_LOADED: Applied Flux is not installed.
      • APPFLUX_INCOMPATIBLE: Applied Flux is installed but its API is not the one this mod expects. Details are in the server log.
    • New server config option allowFluxControl (default true) gates setFluxMode and setFluxFastMode.
      • The setters also need enabled, and allowOnCables for a cable part.
      • getFluxMode needs only enabled, plus allowOnCables for a part.
    • All three methods work while the network is unpowered. A new mode only takes effect once the accessor is powered and active.
