Apocalypse: First Light is a grounded post-apocalyptic survival mod for Forge 1.20.1. Survive with realistic firearms, body temperature, thirst, stamina and carry weight, while radiation and the infected wait outside - and get the old world running again with fuel, power and pipes.

This alpha is for a look around in Creative mode. Survival is not recommended yet: there is no story, most items have no crafting recipes, and the world does not generate loot. If you want to try Survival anyway, place what you need in Creative first.

- Five firearms built from scratch: P9 pistol, Blackridge .50, BR51 battle rifle, HR55 and the Silverwood 12 side-by-side shotgun.
- Swap red dots, suppressors and magazines on the spot (Z) or at a maintenance bench.
- Bullets hit the real model surface and leave holes where they land.

- Body temperature, thirst, stamina and carry weight, all in one compact HUD.
- Freezing nights frost your screen; heat makes it shimmer.

- Lockers, dumpsters, trash cans, vending machines, coolers, freezers, cash registers and shelves can be opened and searched slot by slot.
- Bring a crowbar for the vending machine glass.
- In this alpha the world does not generate loot-filled containers yet - they arrive with city generation.

- Fuel dispensers with working nozzles, underground tanks, intake pumps and pipes - build your own station.
- Carry fuel in jerry cans and drums.
- Spilled fuel burns, and a bullet through a tank starts a leak - or a fire.

- Cables, batteries, a charging station and a thermal generator.
- Coolers, freezers, vending machines and water dispensers light up when powered.

- Fallout zones, a Geiger counter, lead storage and contaminated items.
- Mine industrial ores and process them in an alloy furnace, crusher, compressor, chemical reactor and industrial furnace.

- The infected hear your gunshots and come looking.
- Fragile blocks won't keep them out for long.
- More kinds of infected are on the way.

Good to know before you play
- Creative mode is the way to try this alpha. Survival works, but without recipes and generated loot there is little to do yet.
- Start a new world. The overworld terrain is reshaped, and vanilla structures (villages, temples, mineshafts, shipwrecks, mansions, monuments, ancient cities, ruined portals, strongholds) do not generate. Old worlds will show seams in new chunks - back them up first.
- The vanilla HUD is replaced. Hearts, hunger, armour and air become the survival HUD, and the load bar takes the experience bar's place, so XP levels are not shown. Vanilla advancements are turned off.
- Some vanilla recipes are off. Buckets and flint and steel cannot be crafted (existing ones still work), and cows cannot be milked - fluids are measured in litres.
- HUD mods may clash. Mods that draw hearts, hunger or the hotbar (such as AppleSkin) may not show or may overlap. Mods that rely on advancements, villages or strongholds are affected too.
- Performance: Embeddium and Oculus are recommended. With shaders on, first-person guns cost extra CPU time.
- Languages: English and Simplified Chinese.
