IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR WORLD, AND REMOVE ALL FAMILIARS FROM EVERY TRINKET OR PANDORAS BOX SINCE THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SUMMON THEM ANYMORE.
ALSO MAKE SURE TO READ THE FULL CHANGELOG SINCE SOME ITEMS WHERE REMOVED AND OTHERS COMPLETELY CHANGED.
First of all, I want to thank all of you for the 1 million downloads. All your support encouraged me to keep working and improving, so I thank all of you from the heart.
This update is very big and gamebreaking, but I think that it's for the best and that it's a huge improvement to gameplay.
Also, I'm sad to say that the 1.20.1 version is getting discontinued, since I don't have time or motivation to keep up with more than one version, I'm very sorry.
And last but not least, this mod now depends on FamiliarsLib, a helper library mod containing many of the core methods of both the Familiars and the Sound school, allowing Developers to make their own Familiars, Familiar Storage blocks, Familiar Beds and even Sound spells!
Summoning system:
The entire summoning system has been completely reworked. People can now carry up to 10 Familiars and can summon/unsummon/release them in the selection menu, which can be accessed via keybind.
Already tamed Familiars should auto migrate to the new system, but if you currently have more than 10 Familiars, only the first 10 to migrate will appear in the selection menu. To fix this, you can either release some familiars or store some of them inside Familiar Houses, a new storage block.
When you have enough room for the not migrated ones, you can just right click them to force migrate them, making them appear in the selection menu.
Familiar Bed system:
Familiar Beds have been completely reworked too: they now can be linked to one of your Familiars, who will sleep to recover health when near their bed.
Familiar Beds can still be dyed.
Added:
- Added the new Frostling Familiar! Check the wiki for information about him.
- Added Tiny Totem, an item that can be bound to a Familiar to save them from death once.
- Added new Familiar House blocks (credits to Verox), which can be used to store familiars and let them wander freely. Check the wiki for a full description.
- Added lots of advancements to guide players (credits to Mekka).
- Added descriptions to many items to clarify their function.
- Added sounds and effects for summoning/unsummoning.
- Added 3D curio render for both spellbooks.
- Added lots of tags to make many things data driven, like the spells Familiars can cast, some interactions of Familiars' abilities, items to feed familiars, etc. These can now be edited via Datapack.
Changes:
- Reworked summoning system.
- Reworked beds system.
- Ring of revival and its core have been completely removed, killing the Dead King now gives you the revival (passive) ability permanently.
- Familiar Trinkets now boost the level of spells cast by their corresponding Familiar type.
- Reworked Pandora's Box to be a trinket, now it lets players summon/unsummon up to 10 Familiars at a time.
- Familiars now get unsummoned when their owner dies or changes dimension.
- Reworked Tome of Familiar Alignment to split your attributes evenly between your summoned Familiars. Check the wiki for a proper description.
- Made the Mirror of Truth recipe cheaper.
- Fixed Familiars despawning when they weren't supposed to.
- Bottled souls from Origin Island can now be released back to the wild.
- Removed Shield spell from the Archmage Familiar since it can't shoot through it.
- Nerfed the Haste effect granted by Rhapsody
- Reduced the spell resistance granted by the Statue of Willpower curio.
- Removed the Familiar Tome, since it has no use anymore.
Bugfixes:
- Fixed Origin Island Ritual recipes not showing in recipe viewers like JEI or EMI on servers.
- Fixed Origin Island Ritual recipes crashing with Malum and TxniLib.
- Fixed a bug where Origin Island Ritual recipes weren't working properly.
- Fixed Summoner's Lab not generating in modified Ancient Cities.
- Fixed bug with Familiars being able to harm allies.
- Fixed a bug where the Illusionist Familiar's decoy will taunt allied familiars.
- Fixed bug where sometimes summoning/unsummoning Familiars when they were casting caused them to bug out.
- Fixed bug that broke Sniffer sniffing loot table.
