What's new

v0.3.3

Includes everything from 0.3.1 and 0.3.2.

Allay Compass

  • Height on the needle: the needle's colour now shows how close you are to the home's height. It's its normal teal-blue when you're at about the right height (within 6 blocks), and it fades to purple the further above or below you are (fully purple at 64+ blocks off).
  • Charm slot: with Curios or Accessories installed, the compass can be worn in the charm slot. It keeps searching there, and a small compass shows on your HUD above the XP level (just above the hotbar in creative).

Jar update

  • The empty Allay Jar is now just called Jar.
  • Catch small critters: right-click a small mob with an empty Jar to catch it. This works with any mod's mobs that fit in the jar (about 0.5 × 0.5 blocks), such as silverfish, endermites, frogs and the bugs from Critters and Companions (ladybugs, dragonflies, stick bugs, weevils…).
    • It doesn't catch baby animals or water mobs (use a bucket for those), or tamed critters that belong to another player.
    • A caught critter works like a jarred allay: let it out on a block, or sneak-use to set the jar down with the critter inside.
    • Datapacks can add mobs to the allayfolks:jar_catchable entity tag.
  • 3D jar item: in your inventory and in your hand, the jar is now the 3D glass jar, with the real animated allay or critter inside, turning to face you.
  • Mobs are sized to fit inside the glass, and anything that would still poke out (legs, antennae, wings) is cut off at the glass.
  • The jar sits higher in your hand, so you can see the mob inside.
  • Allays already in jars are safe: old jars keep their allay and simply switch to the new look and name.
  • Jars show the real mob: a jar now shows the exact allay or critter inside, as it was when caught: an Undead Allay's wither skulls, its outfit, what it holds or wears. This works for both the jar item and a placed jar.
  • Fixed the mob inside a held jar drawing in the wrong place with shaders (Iris / Complementary).

Companions

  • Following through long teleports: allays with you no longer get left behind by waystones and other long jumps. Every allay following you, sitting on your shoulder or lighting your way now comes along, not just your companion.
  • Torches count as lights: a pet holding a torch or soul torch now follows to light your way, like with a lantern.
  • Going home calmly: a dismissed allay (for example when you tame a new companion) now flies home instead of vanishing on the spot. Once no player is nearby, it pops home even if its home is far away.
  • Allay Boons panel: it now shows the face and name of the allay whose power you actually have, not just the nearest pet. Only your companion gives boons.

World

  • Allay homes are spread out: no two allay homes, of any variant (Ancient City homes included), generate within 96 blocks of each other. Set it with allayHomeMinDistance in the config (0 turns it off). Only affects newly generated terrain.

Fixes

  • Allays gave back lanterns and flew off after updating from 0.2. If your companion slot still pointed at another allay (one left somewhere else, or in a jar), any allay you handed a light or a station (crafting table, furnace, chest…) handed it right back and went home. Giving your allay a light or a station now makes it your companion, so it keeps it and comes along.
  • Catching your companion in a jar now frees your companion slot, so your other allays no longer step back for an allay in a jar. Letting it out makes it your companion again.
  • Allays got stuck under low leaves (like mangrove crowns): leaves counted as grass, so allays kept rising into them. An allay pressed against any ceiling for 2 seconds now drops down and picks a new path.
  • You couldn't pick a work chest if the allay had gone into its home after you gave it a tool. The chest is now saved on the allay inside the home.
  • The work chest countdown on the action bar was hidden by the "needs a work chest" reminder while the allay was at home.
