Description
Alive & Wary
Alive & Wary makes Minecraft's world react to you. Mobs, animals and villagers notice what you do, remember it, and change their behavior: new behaviors, combat strategies, and interactions with the environment.
Hostile mobs are more aware of their surroundings. They can detect sounds, alert nearby allies, track your last known position, coordinate attacks, and use different strategies to reach you. Groups split up to look for doors, windows, or walls to break through, and zombies and skeletons can climb out of holes they fall into.
Zombies can break obstacles, dig through terrain, build pillars, ramps and bridges, climb walls, construct towers with other zombies, and even use creepers as explosives: a Demolisher Zombie will carry a creeper to the wall you hid behind and throw it. If you rely on lava, fire or cactus traps, zombies learn to cover them with dirt or stone. Skeletons use better positioning, predict player movement, and retreat when injured. Creepers use cover to approach, while Endermen blink behind you, tear down low ceilings of hideouts, and may even grab you and take you somewhere better for them.
The mod also introduces adaptive AI. Mobs observe your playstyle and adjust their behavior accordingly. Players who rely on building, ranged weapons, melee combat, traps, or hiding underground may face different challenges. Use /aliveandwary profile to see what they have learned about you.
Animals can form groups, seek shelter during storms, and defend themselves when threatened: a herd of cows or pigs will fight back if you hit one of them, and wild horse herds sometimes gallop across open plains together. Villagers remember how players treat their villages, increasing prices, refusing trades, becoming hostile, or even abandoning their settlements. When a village migrates, the villagers walk together to a far-away spot, laying wooden planks over rivers and ravines, and set up a camp with tents, beds, workstations and a small farm.
Nights are more dangerous with hostile hordes, red Blood Moons, and enemies that become better equipped based on your sleeping habits. Monsters that stay in one place for a long time will slowly build a small stone nest with a roof for shade. Kill them before they finish and the nest stays unfinished.
The world also receives environmental changes, such as natural sapling spreading during rain.
All major features can be configured individually through aliveandwary-common.toml. Block-modifying behaviors respect the mobGriefing gamerule. Operators can use /aliveandwary migrate and /aliveandwary nest to trigger a village migration or a monster nest on demand.
Alive & Wary aims to make Minecraft feel less predictable by giving the whole world more intelligent, varied and reactive behavior.
