AoE-QoL
Quality-of-life fixes for the Age of Engineering modpack (Minecraft 1.10.2, Forge). Drop the jar into your mods folder. Nothing else needs replacing, and each part only switches on when the mod it works with is installed. New versions come out on Fridays.
Installing
- Single player: put the jar in your
modsfolder. That covers every fix below. - Servers: the server uses the same jar as the client; there's no separate server version. Put it in the server's
modsfolder too. Neither side requires the other: players can join a server without it, and a server can run it for players who don't have it. Each side gets the fixes that run on it, so for everything, install it on both.
Client fixes
Just Enough Calculation
- Recipes chain for items that carry state (IC2 reactor parts, batteries, energy crystals)
/jectagsfinds the tag that blocks a recipe chain (see below)- Ore dictionary unification of saved recipes (
/jecunify) - Step list shows every output of multi-output recipes
- Items no longer go invisible in your inventory after using JEC
- Your recipes show up again in single player after playing on a server (they were hidden until a restart)
IndustrialCraft 2
- JEI pages for the canning machines (fuel rods, food cans, coolant and Coolant Cells)
- JEI page for Reinforced Stone (scaffold + construction foam)
RFTools
- Storage Scanner search stays in sync with JEI's search, like AE2 (can be turned off)
Integrated Dynamics
- Logic cable arms are drawn right away after connecting something (not just an outline)
Minecraft
- The view no longer spins when closing an inventory, chest or machine screen
- No freeze on "Save and Quit to Title" (happened now and then, more often after opening to LAN)
BetterFPS
- Creative search no longer crashes: the "Async" search mode is switched to "On" (still fast)
Server fixes
In single player your game runs the world, so these are covered by the client install.
IndustrialCraft 2
- Comparators next to BatBoxes, CESUs, MFEs and MFSUs follow the stored energy instead of getting stuck
- Cable networks no longer go dead after being split (broken cable, splitter switching off, chunk unloading)
RFTools (crafting grid and Crafter)
- Charged batteries/crystals and worn tools are recognized (e.g. crafting an MFE)
- The right variant is picked (cable insulation, Mekanism tiers), and a wrong variant is shown red
- Other mods' equivalents are used (e.g. IE iron plates for IC2's)
Integrated Dynamics and Extra Utilities 2
- No server crash when a Redstone Reader faces an Extra Utilities 2 block (e.g. the Scanner)
QuantumStorage
- No server crash when an Extra Utilities 2 transfer or retrieval node connects to a Quantum Tank
Fixes on both sides
IndustrialCraft 2
- Redstone dust and Ender IO redstone conduits connect to the EU-Splitter Cable without a wrench (the server handles the power, your game draws the connection)
Ender IO
- No crash when something charges a creative capacitor bank (e.g. a Draconic Evolution capacitor)
Minecraft
- No crash on startup when the computer's language is Turkish or Azerbaijani (Extreme Reactors, Mekanism, Compact Solar Arrays and others)
Settings: Mods → AoE-QoL → Config in game (or config/aoeqol.cfg). Crash fixes are always on; everything that changes how something behaves can be turned off: JEC condition matching and ore unification, RFTools ingredient matching and Storage Scanner sync, the splitter cable redstone connection, split network fix, quit-freeze fix, mouse jump fix and the BetterFPS change. On a server, the server-side fixes follow the server's own config/aoeqol.cfg.
Recipe won't chain in JEC?
Two lists in config/JustEnoughCalculation.cfg decide which NBT tags (ListIgnoredNBTKeys, modid:item@tag) and damage values (ListIgnoredDamage) JEC ignores. IC2's heat and charge are covered by default. To find the tag that's in the way:
/jectagslists items that failed to match only because of a tag or damage value, with both values (/jectags clearstarts over).config/JustEnoughCalculation-TagReport.txthas ready-to-paste config lines.- Advanced tooltips (F3+H) show an item's tags.
Only ignore tags that store condition (heat, charge, energy, wear). Tags that say what an item is (type, material, fluid) must stay, or different items will merge.
Feedback
Recipe that won't chain? Missing JEI page? A crash? Another QoL idea for Age of Engineering? Post it in the Comments on this page, or send me a message on CurseForge.
Some crashes I haven't been able to reproduce and won't be able to look at without a crash report, feel free to send them to me.
