What's new

Exnergy's Aetherveil 1.3.0:
Changes since 1.2.1: 14 redesigned creatures including all seven dragons, unique sounds for all 83 creatures, a living food chain, abandoned settlements, eight lore relics, 63 richer biomes, a giant Home Tree and a Pandora-inspired Lumenwood Rainforest, wood sets for every tree, a new biome name display, Aetherveil time commands, no more wooden piers, and a rebuilt Ichor Bomb, and a Pet Jar that carries every adoptable creature.
🐉 Dragons
All seven dragons are redesigned from the ground up with their own body structure, a detailed 128x128 texture and custom animation: jointed neck and tail, animated jaw, a real walking gait, and flapping wings on the Skydrake
Pebbledrake: a stocky green whelp with stone plates, cheek frills and a stone club tail
Frostling: a slender ice dragon with a crystal crest, antlers, mane and a crystal tail fan
Skydrake: a large blue and gold flier with a three-segment neck, jointed wings and an arrow-shaped tail tip
Emberwyrm: a bulky obsidian-red brute with a glowing belly core, four horns, back spikes and a glowing mace tail
Bonedrake: a skeletal dragon with a ribcage, vertebrae spines, glowing teal eye sockets, bone wings and a seven-segment tail
Ribdrake: a long-necked sand-brown drake with bone ribs along its flanks, a beak and a leathery frill
Scalepup: a small teal and amber pup with big eyes, ears and a leaf-tipped tail
🐺 Hunters and hostiles
Duskhound, Gloomfang, Fenn, Veilcat, Ashstalker, Shardling and Mirewraith are redesigned with new anatomy, detailed textures, ear twitching, jointed tails and walking animation
Duskhound: a lean dark hound with back spikes and ember eyes
Gloomfang: a heavy violet wolf with a crystal mane, fangs and horns
Fenn: a fox with huge ears, a bushy tail and a white tail tip
Veilcat: a sleek cat with flowing veils along its sides, a long tail and teal eyes
Ashstalker: a tall horned stalker with a glowing ember core in its chest
Shardling: a blue crystal golem with crystal shoulders and crown
Mirewraith: a swamp wraith with antlers, reeds on its back and trailing veils
🥚 Spawn eggs
All 14 redesigned creatures have new spawn eggs: head portraits in each creature's new colors
🔊 Sounds
All 83 creatures now have their own ambient, hurt and death sounds, grouped by body type and tuned for each creature
Ambient and hurt sounds have a second variant each, so they no longer repeat
Dragons roar, rattle, chime or growl, hares chirp, deer bleat, cats meow and hiss, canines bark and howl, spirits wail, crabs clack and stone creatures grind
🦌 Food chain
Prey now flees from the predators that hunt it: Hopkin, Tupi, Kuri, Skitter, Moxie, Glowtoad, Pip and Lumo
Herd animals stay loosely together and follow a leader: Hopkin, Kuri, Tupi, Moxie, Pip, Skitter, Lumo and Glowtoad
Pack hunters alert their pack mates and attack the same target together: Duskhound, Gloomfang, Ashstalker and Fenn
Tamed creatures are not affected
🏚️ Abandoned settlements
Cottages, Dusk Huts, Stilt Houses, Deco Streets, Windmills, Hermit Towers, the Metropolis skyscrapers and the Sunken City now generate abandoned
Broken windows, dead lamps, missing wall sections, withered crops, torn doors and cobwebs
Only new chunks get the new look
📜 Lore relics
Eight new relics tell the story of the people who lived on Aetherveil: Ringmark Coin, Hearth Token, Tablet of the Last Census, Silent Bell, Starchart Fragment, Lamplighter's Ledger, Memory Glass and Veil Sigil
Each has its own tooltip and its own sprite, translated into all 15 languages, and they appear in the creative menu
Found in ruin chests, abandoned shrines, archives, sky ruins and crystal vaults
🌿 Biome improvements
32 of the sparsest biomes gained extra landmarks: fallen logs, glow boulders, lantern posts, waystones, standing stones, fairy rings, cairns and crystal clusters
They also gained glowwater springs and a more varied mix of the mod's own flowers and plants, matched to each biome's climate: frost ferns for cold biomes, ember blooms for hot ones
31 more biomes now have a signature set of landmarks that fits their character: ruined colonnades and guardian statues in Gilded Ruins, ritual circles and standing rings in Witchlight Moor, bone arches and bastions in Chitin Ridges, an oasis and sand temple in Mirage Oasis, observatories and beacons in Celestial Summit, crystal gardens in Crystal Orchard, and more
Only new chunks get the changes
🌳 Home Tree
Giant Home Trees now grow in Lumenwood Rainforest, built in the same style as the forest's other trees
A massive trunk with huge buttress roots spreading across the ground, splitting into thick sweeping limbs under a broad, dense, glowing crown with hanging tendrils
The trunk is hollow inside, with three wide doorways, a mossy glowing floor and chests holding loot and lore relics
Only new chunks get the trees
A craftable Lumenwood Home Tree, made from a Lumenwood Sapling, Lumenwood Logs and Glowstone Dust, grows a Home Tree wherever there is enough open sky above it
🎨 Forest colors
Lumenwood Rainforest now uses natural forest colors: green leaves, brown bark, dark soil and green moss, ferns and vines instead of teal
The glowing accents stay where they were
🌌 Pandora-inspired forest
Lumenwood Rainforest takes inspiration from the glowing forests of Pandora, where the night glows in violet, indigo blue and bright red
Tall Helicoradians with glowing orange spirals, Warbonnet Ferns with red bases and iridescent blue tips, Syekalin Blooms, Bladder Polyps, Fiddlehead Ferns, Three Dwarves and orange Puffball Pods grow across the forest floor
Pulse Moss sends out rings of light when you walk on it, and violet tendrils hang from the trees alongside the green ones
More glowing spores and floating seeds drift through the air
New plants and moss appear in new chunks only
🍃 Canopy variations
Treetops now vary: pale, deep and blossoming Lumenwood leaves mix in patches, and each tree leans toward its own shade
Blossoming leaves carry violet flowers
🪵 Lumenwood building set
Lumenwood now has planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, buttons, pressure plates and a stripped log, all in the green of the Lumenwood tree
New Lumenwood Pillar and Lumenwood Thatch with matching stairs and slabs, crafted from Lumenwood leaves
🪵 Wood sets for every tree
Sakura, Palm, Spore, Lantern and Root woods now have planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, buttons and pressure plates
Every plank type from the mod can be used in a vanilla Crafting Table recipe
The creative menu starts with the ground blocks, green shades first and then blue, followed by each tree's logs, wood, planks and building blocks together, with leaves and saplings grouped by tree, all in one tab
Lumenwood, Silver Willow, Aetherveil Crimson, Skywood, Shadow Wood and Sakura now have Wood and Stripped Wood blocks
Lumenwood also has a Sign, a Hanging Sign and a Sapling that grows into a Lumenwood tree and drops from its leaves
🦅 Veilwing
A new flying creature, the Veilwing, soaring over Lumenwood Rainforest, Emerald Jungle, Glowcanopy Deeps and other forests
Four color variants from one spawn egg: azure with orange markings, violet with green, teal with red, and amber with cyan
Veilwing can be adopted with an Aether Seed and ridden: steer with the mouse, move with the movement keys and fly where you look
🐴 Riding
Adopted creatures that are large enough can be ridden: right-click with an empty hand to mount, sneak and right-click to make them sit, sneak to dismount
Includes Veilwing, Pebbledrake, Frostling and every adoptable creature
🫙 Pet Jar
The Pet Jar now carries any adoptable creature of the mod, including the Veilwing and every creature added in 1.3.0: right-click your creature with an empty jar, and let it out again with the filled Pet Jar
A filled Pet Jar remembers the creature's color, age and health, so a baby stays a baby and a color variant keeps its color
The filled jar shows the creature's name, and a custom name from a name tag or anvil is kept
🐣 Color variants and babies
22 creatures now come in three colors from a single spawn egg: Hopkin, Tupi, Kuri, Moxie, Pip, Skitter, Lumo, Mossback, Nimbus, Silvar, Blossomhind, Glimmerhorn, Cragram, Thornback, Mistfawn, Lightstag, Chalkhare, Duskhare, Streakhare, Ashhare, Canopycat and Glowtoad
Some of them are born as babies, which grow up over time
Tupi has its original voice back
🌀 Rift
The Rift has a new look: a glowing pixel cross in turquoise and sea green with floating sparks around it
It opens with a Veil Key anywhere, including inside Aetherveil
🏛️ Design blocks
Veil Marble Pillar, Framed Window, Ivory Framed Window and Ornate Grille
🌍 Translations
All new blocks and plants are translated into all 15 languages
🌸 Biome flora
77 new plants give biomes their own character instead of sharing the same flowers: jungle orchids in Emerald Jungle, willow bells in White Willow Forest, cathedral caps in Mycelial Cathedral, frost lilies in Frostglass Tundra, prism roses in Prismbloom Meadows, shadow bells in Blackroot Forest, abyss blooms in Fractured Abyss, hearth roses in Hearthfield Downs, and many more
The most common shared flowers were thinned out of 45 biomes so each one feels more distinct
New plants appear in new chunks only
🏷️ Biome name display
The biome name now appears lower on the screen, just above the armor bar, in the regular Minecraft font in a softer color matched to each biome
It is shown at all times in Aetherveil
⌨️ Commands
/aetherveil warp, tp and describe accept partial names and any word of a biome name, so typing rain finds Lumenwood Rainforest
/time set now offers aetherveil:day, aetherveil:noon, aetherveil:night, aetherveil:midnight, aetherveil:sunrise and aetherveil:sunset
🛠️ Fixes and performance
Fixed floating leaves next to Home Trees and neighboring trees
Smoother night in Lumenwood Rainforest: blossoming leaves no longer emit light and fewer glowing particles drift through the air
🌊 Wooden piers removed
Wooden piers no longer generate in Tidepool Terraces, Coral Atoll, Corsair Shores, Stardust Wetlands and Opal Reef
Only new chunks lose them
💣 Ichor Bomb
Thrown on a flatter, slightly faster arc, it explodes when it hits a block or a creature, or after 4 seconds in flight
The explosion hurts but never destroys blocks
You and your tamed pets are immune, and a trail of sparks and smoke follows the bomb
