What's new
## [0.3.0-beta] — 2026-11-01
The first beta of Aetheria. A full main story, party play that still works solo, achievements and titles, and completely rebuilt towns. From here on the feature set is locked: beta updates focus on bugs and balance.
> ⚠️ Both the client and the server need this version — the network protocol has changed.
> Remove the old Aetheria jar from your `mods` folder (only one Aetheria jar may be installed). Back up your world first.
✨ New
- Achievements and titles (key P): 45 achievements in five categories (Combat, Dungeons, Exploration, Story, Progress) with progress bars and points. 27 of them unlock a title you can show behind your name on your nameplate and in the tab list, e.g. «Kingslayer», «Hero of Aetheria» or «the Lone Wolf». Unlocking shows a toast; big achievements are announced to the whole server. Boss achievements count for everyone who took part in the fight
- Main story: "The Voice Without a Sender": a new storyline told by Chronicler Edda in the starter town. Letters sealed with an empty circle tie every disaster in Aetheria together. Follow them through a prologue, five chapters (Goblin Warren, Alchemist Fortress, Vanguard Keep, Coven Citadel, Shattered Ley Spire) and an epilogue, with page-by-page story scenes before and after each chapter. Rewards include the Ashmane, Glassantler and Cinderwing mounts
- Party contracts: four repeatable contracts from Edda (ley leeches, rift hunting, cathedral templars, the Ashwing Leviathan)
- Completely new towns — every town is now unique. No walls, no gates: a lively town that grows out of its centre and flows into farmland and the landscape around it. Every town rolls its own character:
- River town — a river winds through the town with stone quays, arched bridges with lanterns, boats and a watermill with a turning-wheel look on the riverbank.
- Lake town — a lake next to the centre with a promenade around it and a jetty.
- Market town — a large market square full of colourful market stalls, and a wide tree-lined avenue.
- Hill town — the centre sits on a raised terrace with retaining walls; the streets step down to the outer districts.
- Village green — a grass green with a giant tree instead of a stone square.
- Within that, everything varies: the direction and curve of the high street, side streets and lanes, the plaza shape and its centrepiece, where the river or lake lies, and which buildings stand where.
- New buildings in every town:
- Houses in many shapes: L-shaped houses with a front wing, tall narrow houses, cottages; side- or front-gabled and hipped roofs, dormers, overhanging upper floors, verandas, balconies, shutters, flower boxes, front gardens and vegetable patches.
- Row houses — colourful narrow town houses with stepped gables, each one different.
- Town hall — a grand building with a portico, two wings and a tall clock tower with a bell and spire. The mayor lives here.
- Bank — a classical bank with columns, a pediment with a gold emblem, a barred counter (with the banker) and an iron vault.
- Chapel with a spire, bell and stained glass; manor houses with a formal garden.
- Farmsteads — farmhouse, a big red barn with a gambrel roof and hayloft, a silo, a fenced yard with animals, hay bales and a vegetable garden.
- Farmland around every town: crop fields in strips with irrigation and a scarecrow, orchards, pastures, vineyards, bee meadows with beehives, pumpkin and melon patches, windmills and ponds.
- Towns now have flowers and grass between the buildings, patchy ground, street lamps, benches, planters, wells, carts and signposts where the roads enter town. Fences, walls and window panes now connect properly.
