AE2 Search Autofill

Bring back NEI-style click-to-fill for the Applied Energistics 2 ME terminal search bar.

Hold an item and click the search bar, or hover an item and press a key — the search fills with the item's name and the grid filters instantly. No more typing the name of something you already have in hand.

Features

  • Click to fill — hold an item on your cursor and left-click any ME terminal's search bar to fill it with that item's name. (Right-click still clears the search.)
  • Fill from hovered item — a keybind (default Right Shift) fills the search from whatever item is under your mouse: in the ME grid, in your inventory, or in JEI's item list and bookmarks.
  • After filling, the text is selected with the caret at the end — a single Backspace clears it, and typing replaces it.
  • Works on every ME terminal: storage, crafting, and pattern encoding.

Requirements

  • Applied Energistics 2 — required.
  • JEI (Just Enough Items) — optional. The mod works without it; installing JEI simply lets you fill the search from JEI's overlay.

Client-side only

This addon runs entirely on the client. It adds no server-side logic, so you can install it on the client alone and still join servers that don't have it. No server install needed.

Notes

The keybind defaults to Right Shift and can be rebound under Options → Controls → AE2 Search Autofill. Use a non-text key (a modifier or function key): a printable key would be typed into the search field instead of triggering the fill.
