ADAPTIVE MONSTER

A boss that studies how you fight it. The longer you rely on one tactic, the better it gets at shutting it down.

HOW IT LEARNS

Every hit, shot, block and movement is tracked during the fight. Once you lean on a tactic enough, the monster learns a counter for the rest of the encounter. It also picks up your patterns: if you always hit twice then back off, it will start moving before you do.

- Melee attacking: it takes less melee damage and counters your combos
- Jump critting: it uppercuts you out of the air
- Shooting arrows: it shrugs off projectiles and leaps to close the gap
- Blocking with a shield: it breaks your shield with a heavy slam
- Retreating: it chases faster and aims leaps ahead of you
- Strafing: it widens its area slam and predicts where you're going
- Pillaring up: it pulls you down off your perch

FEATURES

- Custom boss bar showing what it has learned and what it expects you to do next
- Custom animations: swipe, ground slam, leap, roar, counter and guard
- Enrage phase at 50% health
- Memory resets if you escape for 30 seconds

Use it on the ground to summon the boss. The core is used up, and it won't work on Peaceful.

The corners must stay empty. Craft it in a crafting table.

LOOT

Adaptive Eye: dropped every time you defeat the boss. You need it to craft the Adaptive Blade.

Adaptive Blade:
- 10 attack damage (Netherite Sword: 8)
- Never breaks
- Takes sword enchantments like Sharpness, Looting, Fire Aspect and Sweeping Edge
- Right-click: unleash the boss's roar to damage, knock back and slow nearby mobs (10 second cooldown)

PROGRESSION

Craft the Adaptive Core > Summon the boss > Defeat it > Claim the Adaptive Eye > Forge the Adaptive Blade

Tip: switch up your tactics. Spamming one strategy is exactly what it wants.
