What's new
Academy Chat QOL - Update 1.3.0
What’s new
Custom menu scale
- New option to override the in-game config menu scale (toggle + slider), similar to “Custom Chat Scale”.
- Designed to keep the menu readable with low GUI Scale while preserving the rest of the HUD.
- Changes are tracked as “temporary settings” so you’ll be warned if you close the menu without saving.
Custom channels (max 5)
- Added up to 5 custom channels you can configure.
- Each custom channel has a specifier (keyword tag) used to route messages into the correct channel. This can be used to create “friend group” channels if multiple players use the same specifier.
Default channel support
- Each channel has a Make default channel toggle.
- The default channel is the one selected automatically when you open the chat.
- Default selection is exclusive: only one channel can be default at a time.
- Party is excluded from being default (Party is temporary and only exists when relevant).
Config menu session memory (non-persistent)
- First open in a session: starts on General with Channels collapsed (clean first impression).
- If you reopen the menu in the same session, it restores:
- your last opened tab/sub-tab (ex: Custom1),
- and whether the Channels category was expanded.
- Not saved to disk: restarting Minecraft resets to the default opening behavior.
Change channel names
- You can now rename channels directly from the in-game menu.
- Renames apply at runtime (no restart needed).
Runtime config reload
- If you edited config files manually, opening the in-game config menu will reload and apply them at runtime.
- Useful for quick iteration/testing without restarting the game.
Complete in-game menu rework
- Menu layout has been reorganized for clarity and consistency.
- Cards, spacing, and scrolling behavior have been improved to reduce clutter and avoid UI overflow.
Tooltips for menu options
- Added tooltips to explain what options do when hovering them.
- Helps discoverability without making the UI heavier.
Staff tab and staff routing
- New Staff tab to manage how staff messages are detected and routed.
- You can add/remove staff names from a list.
- Some staff entries are built-in (cannot be removed, even from config files) to ensure reliability.
Routing /msg messages
- Each channel can now decide how /msg (private message) traffic is routed with a dedicated toggle.
- Allows sending /msg messages to a preferred channel instead of mixing them into General/System.
Emojis panel categories
- Emojis are now grouped into categories for easier browsing.
- “Frequently Used” category added to quickly access the emojis you use the most.
Channel colors
- You can customize each channel color.
- Default palette: Blue for All/System/General/Custom[1-5], Gold for Market.
Show/hide specific channels
- Each channel can be individually shown or hidden via a toggle in its options.
- Useful if you want to reduce visual noise and keep only the channels you use.
Improvements
Mentions system
- Preview text now wraps correctly (prevents FR text from overflowing the preview container).
- Added a global mentions enable/disable toggle.
- Added per-channel toggles to enable/disable mention handling per channel.
Ignore system
- Ignore/Unignore feedback messages are now consistent between FR/EN (same phrasing structure and formatting).
- Feedback messages are always shown even if they contain the ignored player’s name (they bypass ignore filtering).
- Added a global ignore enable/disable toggle.
- Added per-channel toggles to enable/disable ignore filtering per channel.
Timestamp
- Added per-channel toggle to enable/disable message timestamps.
- Lets you keep timestamps for Market/System but disable them for cleaner custom channels (or the opposite).
Scroll between channels
- You can now scroll through channels in the chat GUI.
- Helps when many channels exist and prevents the tab row from becoming too wide.
Localization
- Improved FR coverage across the config UI and tooltips.
- Emoji category labels (including “Frequently Used”) are now translatable.
Fixes
Typing in menu text fields
- Fixed text input so special characters (é, è, ï, ë, etc.) work properly in config text fields.
Command editor popup (Context Menu)
- Save/Cancel buttons now resize correctly for translated strings (no overflow in FR).
- Better alignment under custom menu scale settings to prevent layout drifting.
