Abyssal Planet 0.2.6 — Abyss Atmosphere & Decay Water Update

Abyssal Atmosphere

  • Restored the near-black visual identity of the Abyssal Planet dimension.
  • Deep Abyssal now features an almost completely black underwater atmosphere.
  • Abyssal Valley retains a subtle deep blue-black identity without appearing bright blue.
  • Decay Road and Decay Valley now use darker red-black atmospheric tones.
  • Fixed the bright blue underwater rendering that could appear when leaving the first biome.
  • Prevented vanilla-looking blue fog from taking over at biome transitions.
  • Improved the contrast between the dark environment and bioluminescent creatures, plants and environmental blocks.
  • Night Vision no longer overrides the intended near-black abyssal fog rendering.
  • Removed the Darkness effect previously applied when entering the dimension.
  • The abyssal darkness is now produced visually through water and fog rendering rather than a permanent gameplay debuff.

Environmental Fixes

  • Fixed several abyssal plants and corals appearing above the terrain.
  • Added properly grounded models for the affected waving abyssal grass variants.
  • Added properly grounded models for luminous coral variants.
  • Improved visual contact between environmental plants and the blocks supporting them.

Decay Water

  • Water collected with a bucket in Decay Road now becomes Red Abyssal Water.
  • Water collected with a bucket in Decay Valley now also becomes Red Abyssal Water.
  • Red Abyssal Water permanently retains its crimson surface tint when placed.
  • The fluid keeps its Decay identity even when transported outside its original biome.
  • Added a dedicated dark crimson underwater fog color for Red Abyssal Water.
  • Regular water and water collected outside Decay biomes remain unchanged.

Compatibility and Stability

  • No external shader or graphical dependency is required.
  • Existing bioluminescence, Decay storms, boss fog and atmospheric settings remain supported.
  • No intentional combat or gameplay balance changes were introduced.
  • Added automated validation for Decay biome bucket collection and persistent fluid coloring.
  • Successfully validated with 127 automated tests.
  • Successfully compiled for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge 21.1.244.
