This major update expands the Abyssal dimension with new biomes, structures, civilizations, bosses, legendary equipment, music, improved world generation, and many compatibility fixes.
New Boss — Hernia the Carrion
- Added Hernia the Carrion, a gigantic and terrifying airborne vulture boss.
- Hernia patrols high above the waters of the Abyss.
- Features 1,800 health points and never regenerates naturally.
- Focuses only one player at a time.
- Watches its target for 10 seconds before performing a deadly dive attack.
- Continues charging until it reaches its target.
- Players near the water surface can still be attacked.
- The attack is cancelled only when the target dives more than one block underwater.
- Hernia then returns to the sky and resumes patrolling.
- Added a dedicated boss bar.
- Added custom flight, observation, dive, landing, resting and take-off animations.
- Added a unique detailed 3D model and custom texture.
- Hernia can land and rest for several minutes on Carrion Perches.
- Defeating Hernia rewards the player with a Legendary Carrion Feather, delivered directly to their inventory.
New Structures
Carrion Perches
- Added enormous Abyssal towers rising above the ocean.
- Only four major towers are generated across the Decay Abyss:
- Far North
- Far South
- Far East
- Far West
- Hernia can land, rest and take off from these towers.
- The structure can be located with:

Drowned Shrine
- Added a new mysterious underwater Abyssal structure.
- The structure can be located with:
/locate structure abyssalplanet:drowned_shrine
New Biome — Decay Valley
- Added Decay Valley, a new region found beyond Decay Road.
- Introduced more varied terrain instead of large flat surfaces.
- Added red dunes of different sizes and shapes.
- Some enormous dunes rise completely above the Abyssal ocean.
- Large dunes may support complete Abyssal settlements.
- Improved terrain transitions between Abyssal biomes.
- Villages are positioned on sufficiently large terrain to prevent buildings from floating, clipping or spilling into the water.
Abyssal Villages
- Added large civilization-style villages to Decay Valley.
- Large village dunes have approximately a 15% generation chance.
- Added custom Abyssal villagers inspired by vanilla villagers.
- Villagers retain familiar behaviours while receiving:
- Unique Abyssal clothing
- Blue-gold ornaments
- Detailed robes
- Improved facial details
- Correctly aligned eyes
- Added localized rain above Abyssal villages.
- Added a permanent grey cooling cloud above each village.
- Added a dedicated village theme.
- Music fades in when entering a village and fades out when leaving.
- Improved the music loop for smoother playback.
Blue-Gold Golem
- Added the Abyssal Blue-Gold Golem.
- Protects the inhabitants of Abyssal villages.
- Uses behaviour inspired by the vanilla Iron Golem.
- Added a completely redesigned 3D model.
- Added detailed blue-gold armour, decorative reliefs and Abyssal energy elements.
- Drops Blue-Gold Ingots when defeated.
New Boss — Rastard the Blacksmith
- Added Rastard the Blacksmith, master of the Abyssal forge.
- Rastard is larger and stronger than a normal villager.
- Added a unique professional 3D model and detailed texture.
- Added custom armour, blue-gold ornaments and forge-themed details.
- Rastard peacefully works at his anvil before combat.
- Added complete idle forging animations.
- Added synchronized hammer impact sounds.
- Rastard enters combat when:
- He is attacked.
- His anvil is destroyed.
- Added a dedicated boss bar.
- Attacks with powerful close-range hammer strikes.
- Summons one Blue-Gold Golem after approximately 30 seconds of combat.
- The golem can only be summoned once per fight.
- Balanced so that a properly equipped player wearing diamond armour can defeat him.
- Drops the Forged Hammer of the Abyss.
Forged Hammer of the Abyss
- Added a powerful legendary 3D hammer.
- Features a custom model, detailed texture and emissive Abyssal elements.
- Deals heavy melee damage.
- Right-clicking summons an allied Blue-Gold Golem.
- The summoning ability has a one-minute cooldown.
- Improved its inventory presentation.
- Corrected its upside-down orientation.
- Corrected its first-person positioning.
- Corrected its third-person positioning.
- The handle is now properly anchored inside the player’s hand instead of the wrist.
- Improved how Rastard holds and uses the hammer.
Abyssal Anvil
- Added the Abyssal Anvil.
- Uses a redesigned, darker version of the vanilla anvil shape.
- Features obsidian, blackened metal, blue gold and Abyssal energy.
- Has a 5% chance to replace Rastard’s normal anvil.
- Can be collected and placed inside a player’s base.
- Allows players to enchant compatible items using an Abyssal Egg.
- Place the item in the left slot and an Abyssal Egg in the right slot.
- Added a searchable enchantment selection interface.
- Each applied enchantment consumes one Abyssal Egg.
- Items enchanted through the Abyssal Anvil receive the Curse of the Abyss signature.
- Holding or wearing a cursed item applies the Darkness effect.
- Darkness is removed when the affected item is no longer held or equipped.
Book of the Abyss
- Added the Book of the Abyss.
- Crafted using:
- One Legendary Carrion Feather
- One Abyssal Ink
- One Book
- Stores one target at a time.
- Accepts:
- Player names
- Entity names
- Exact entity registry IDs
- The book’s bearer deals double damage to the selected target.
- Designed to recognize entities from other mods for improved modpack compatibility.
World Generation Improvements
- Improved the overall generation of Abyssal biomes.
- Added more natural terrain height variation.
- Added depressions, slopes, ridges and less predictable surfaces.
- Reduced excessively flat terrain in the Decay Abyss.
- Improved biome transitions and large-scale landscape readability.
- Improved placement rules for villages and structures.
- Reduced floating, buried or incorrectly placed structures.
Visual and Audio Improvements
- Improved Hernia’s animations to make the boss faster, heavier and less unnatural.
- Improved dive attack behaviour and transitions.
- Improved landing, resting and take-off sequences.
- Improved Rastard’s forging and combat animations.
- Better synchronized hammer animations and impact sounds.
- Improved the models and textures of Abyssal villagers.
- Corrected the misplaced villager eye.
- Improved the Blue-Gold Golem model and texture.
- Fixed the upper section of Abyssal algae rendering as a solid square.
- Improved several item models and inventory presentations.
