RLM Meganium — Grass / Steel

A fierce guardian who reserves its loyalty for Trainers who earn its respect. Its family includes RLM Chikorita and Bayleef.

Its Verdant Bastion ability punishes contact attacks and sets Spikes. Its Florasteel Charge move also sets Spikes while attacking.

RLM Blastoise — Water / Flying

Its cannons act as thrusters that launch it into the air. RLM Squirtle and Wartortle already practise riding rising air currents.

Its Marine Vortex ability summons rain and boosts its offensive stats. High Propulsion gives it a priority Flying-type attack.

RLM Empoleon — Water / Electric

Usually calm, it unleashes torrents of electricity when angered. Its family includes RLM Piplup and Prinplup.

RLM Delphox — Fire / Fairy

A mischievous forest magician who plays tricks on travellers while secretly guiding those who get lost. RLM Fennekin and Braixen share its affinity for magic.

Its Psycho-Prio ability increases move priority while it has more than half its HP. Mystic Exchange turns stat changes to its advantage.

RLM Ampharos — Electric / Ghost

The orb on its tail guides lost souls to the afterlife. RLM Mareep and Flaaffy also carry spectral energy in their wool.

RLM Probopass — Rock / Fairy

A familiar sight on the beach, it enjoys relaxing alongside humans. RLM Nosepass shares its laid-back nature and dual typing.

RLM Spiritomb — Fire / Dark

Wearing an Oni mask and inhabiting a Jizo statue, it wards off evil spirits. Its Soul Release ability retaliates based on the number of fainted allies.

RLM Luxray — Ice

From snowy peaks, it watches over its pack of RLM Shinx and Luxio. Its Frosty Slide move strikes with +2 priority.

RLM Togekiss — Fairy / Dragon

Scarred by human conflict, it struggles to contain a draconic rage. RLM Togepi and Togetic also draw on this ancient energy.

Its Dragonate ability turns Normal-type moves into Dragon-type moves and boosts their power.

RLM Nincada, Ninjask and Shedinja

  • Nincada — Bug / Water: lives along riverbanks and can move across the water's surface.
  • Ninjask — Water / Flying: crosses lakes at incredible speed with its webbed legs.
  • Shedinja — Water / Rock: its shell merges with underwater coral and fossils. Dullness Guard protects it from neutral and super-effective attacks.

RLM Mawile — Poison / Fairy or Dragon / Fairy

Two variants descended from Smowile: the Poison form channels a toxic aura, while the Dragon form develops a jaw capable of devastating attacks. Each has its own Mega Evolution.

RLM Sunflora — Three forms

  • Sky — Grass / Flying: claims to have been Rayquaza's teacher.
  • Ocean — Grass / Water: insists it defeated Kyogre in a duel.
  • Volcano — Grass / Fire: describes itself as Groudon's best friend.

Their stories are as impressive as they are difficult to verify!

RLM Haxorus — Dragon / Poison

Its blades are infused with deadly poison. Its family includes RLM Axew and Fraxure, both Dragon / Normal.

Its Venom Edge ability boosts slicing moves and can poison their targets. Dragon Axe deals damage at the cost of lowering the user's Defense.

Installation

The current project version targets Minecraft 1.21.1, Java 21 and Cobblemon 1.8.2.

Dependency Required?
Cobblemon and its dependencies Yes
Fabric or NeoForge Yes, matching your RLM file
Fabric API Yes on Fabric
Cobblemon: Mega Showdown and its dependencies For Mega Evolutions and Mega Gem recipes

Development uses Fabric Loader 0.19.5, NeoForge 21.1.251 and Mega Showdown 1.3.0+1.8.2+1.21.1-hotfix.

<details> <summary>Install with Modrinth App</summary>

  1. Create or open a Minecraft 1.21.1 instance with Fabric or NeoForge.
  2. Add Cobblemon 1.8.2 and its dependencies, plus Fabric API if you use Fabric.
  3. From the Cobblemon RLM page, select the file for your loader and add it to that instance.
  4. Add Mega Showdown and its dependencies if you want to use Mega Evolutions.
  5. Launch the game and open your world.

</details>

<details> <summary>Install manually in singleplayer or on a server</summary>

  1. Install Fabric or NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1, then Cobblemon 1.8.2 and its dependencies.
  2. Download the Cobblemon RLM .jar for your loader from Modrinth.
  3. Put the file in your Minecraft instance's mods/ folder.
  4. For multiplayer, also install the mod and its dependencies in the server's mods/ folder. Client and server versions must be compatible.
  5. Install Mega Showdown to use Mega Evolutions and craft Mega Gems.
  6. Restart the game or server.

The mod includes its data, models and textures. No additional resource pack is needed.

</details>

<details> <summary>Update from the old datapack</summary>

Remove the old RLM ZIP from the world's datapacks/ folder, any separate RLM resource pack and the old RLM JAR from mods/, then install the new mod.

The new Mega Gem items require the mod. Putting its file in datapacks/ or resourcepacks/ does not replace installing it in mods/.

Legacy dye-based gems retain their models and data. New recipes produce the registered RLM items; existing inventories are not converted automatically.

Items, recipes and commands

<details> <summary>Craft the Mega Gems</summary>

All five gems are available in the Cobblemon RLM creative tab. With Mega Showdown installed, they can also be crafted at a smithing table.

Place a Mega Stone (mega_showdown:mega_stone) in the base slot, then add the Cobblemon gems listed below in the first and third slots.

Result First slot Base Addition
Ampharosite RLM Electric Gem Mega Stone Ghost Gem
Flammikite Fire Gem Mega Stone Electric Gem
Mawilite RLM (Dragon) Dragon Gem Mega Stone Fairy Gem
Mawilite RLM (Poison) Poison Gem Mega Stone Fairy Gem
Wamekite Bug Gem Mega Stone Dragon Gem

Without Mega Showdown, the items remain in the creative tab, but their recipes and Mega Evolution effects are disabled.

</details>

<details> <summary>Get Pokémon and gems through commands</summary>

These commands require cheats in singleplayer or the appropriate server permissions. Species names and aspects use their identifiers regardless of your game's language.

/pokegive @s flammiko
/pokegive @s rineshell
/pokegive @s tinywone
/pokegive @s wamek
/pokegive @s smowile
/pokegive @s kotora
/pokegive @s delphox rlm
/pokegive @s mawile rlm dragon
/pokegive @s mawile rlm poison
/pokegive @s sunflora rlm ciel
/pokegive @s sunflora rlm ocean
/pokegive @s sunflora rlm volcan

For RLM Delphox, rlm=true also works. Without this aspect, /pokegive @s delphox gives the normal form, including when Mega Showdown is installed.

/give @s rlm_megas:ampharositerlm
/give @s rlm_megas:flammikite
/give @s rlm_megas:mawiliterlmdragon
/give @s rlm_megas:mawiliterlmpoison
/give @s rlm_megas:wamekite

With Mega Showdown installed, gems obtained through commands or the creative tab automatically receive its required Mega Evolution components.

Development

<details> <summary>Build the mod and launch a development environment</summary>

Use a JDK 21 and point JAVA_HOME to it. The repository includes the Gradle wrapper.

# Linux / macOS
./gradlew build
# Windows
.\gradlew.bat build

Both installable mods are collected in build/libs/:

  • cobblemon-rlm-fabric-1.7.0.jar
  • cobblemon-rlm-neoforge-1.7.0.jar

Versions are defined in gradle.properties. Use -Prelease_version=1.7.1 to override the version for a release build.

Module Role
common Shared code, items, Mega Showdown compatibility and assets/ and data/ resources
fabric Fabric registration, creative tab and metadata
neoforge NeoForge registration, creative tab and metadata

Common sources are compiled into each mod. RLM adds no Architectury dependency; do not install the common module JAR.

To launch a development client:

./gradlew :fabric:runClient
./gradlew :neoforge:runClient

On Windows, replace ./gradlew with .\gradlew.bat. The :fabric:runServer and :neoforge:runServer tasks are also available.

These environments load Cobblemon, Mega Showdown and JEI 19.27.0.340 by default. Use -PwithMegaShowdown=false to test without Mega Showdown. Development dependencies are not embedded in the distributed JARs. JEI's version is set by jei_version; restart the game after changing it.

Clients use up to 4 GB of memory and automatically open RLM-Test when that save exists in the module's runs/client/saves/ folder. Use -PquickPlayWorld= to open the main menu instead.

When generated locally, build/client-test/Cobblemon-RLM-Test-1.7.0.mrpack can be imported into Modrinth App. It includes the Fabric mod, its dependencies, JEI and the creative test world “RLM 1.7.0 - Test creatif”, with all five Mega Gems and a Mega Bracelet in the hotbar.

</details>

<details> <summary>Launch clients from IntelliJ IDEA</summary>

  1. Open the repository root and import the Gradle project.
  2. In Settings → Build, Execution, Deployment → Build Tools → Gradle, select the Gradle wrapper and a JDK 21 as the Gradle JVM.
  3. Reload the Gradle project, then select RLM - Client Fabric or RLM - Client NeoForge.
  4. Click Run ▶ to launch the client and view logs in the Run window.

Shared configurations live in .run/. You can also launch runClient tasks from the Gradle tool window.

</details>

<details> <summary>Add a gem and follow releases</summary>

To add a gem, update the MegaGem enum, its models, textures and translations, its recipe in data/rlm_megas/recipe/ and the rlm_megas:mega_gems tag.

Mega Showdown presence conditions are added to recipes when building the Fabric and NeoForge mods.

See the changelog for version changes and the publication guide for releases.
