Lunar Descent
A stylized moon dimension for Paper 1.21.1 servers. Fly high enough and leave the world behind.
Traveling to the Moon
Reach Y=500 in the overworld while flying and you'll breach the atmosphere. A brief blindness transition plays, then you're dropped onto the lunar surface. To return, do the same thing from the moon — fly to Y=500 and you'll re-enter the atmosphere and land back at the exact coordinates you left from.
The Dimension
The moon uses the End skybox — pure black void with stars. No weather, no day cycle, fixed night, and low ambient lighting. The surface is made entirely from a handpicked palette of vanilla blocks:
- Calcite — primary surface, bright and sterile
- Tuff — scattered patches for variation
- Smooth Basalt — darker surface regions and deep bedrock layer
- Basalt — crater rims and maria patches
- Dead Tube Coral Block — dark spots across the surface
- Cobbled Deepslate — crater floors
- Cyan Terracotta — sub-surface layer
- End Stone — deep underground filler
Terrain & Features
The terrain generates as gently rolling plains with no oceans or caves. On top of that, several features scatter across every chunk:
Craters — small (radius 2–5) and large (radius 6–12) impact craters with cobbled deepslate floors and basalt rims, generated fresh every chunk.
Maria patches — dark basalt and smooth basalt regions mimicking the moon's real dark seas.
Dead coral spots — small scattered dark patches across the surface.
Ores
All ores spawn as their deepslate variants embedded in the sub-surface layers. Rarity and depth follow a realistic distribution:
| Ore | Depth | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| Coal | 20–55 | Common |
| Copper | 10–50 | Common |
| Iron | 5–50 | Common |
| Gold | 0–30 | Uncommon |
| Lapis | 0–35 | Uncommon |
| Redstone | 0–25 | Uncommon |
| Diamond | 0–15 | Rare |
| Emerald | 0–10 | Very rare |
Lunar Pods
Scattered roughly every 1000 blocks across the surface, lunar pods are small structures — a ring of smooth basalt and cobbled deepslate with a barrel at the center. Inside the barrel you'll find the Viltrum Serum, a one-of-a-kind item that permanently grants Viltrumite powers when consumed.
Requires the Vincible plugin to be installed for the serum effect to activate.
Requirements
- Paper 1.21.1
- Java 21
- Vincible plugin (for the Viltrum Serum item effect)
