Better Gear Smelting

Smelting down gear yields one crafting material instead of a nugget.

If you've ever wanted to get better returns from smelting down old gear, you should try this data pack. It includes the following benefits:

  • Leather armor smelts to 1 leather
  • Copper gear smelts to 1 copper ingot
  • Iron gear smelts to 1 iron ingot (includes chainmail)
  • Gold gear smelts to 1 gold ingot
  • Diamond gear smelts to 1 diamond
  • Netherite gear smelts to 1 netherite ingot

If you're using my Fast Furnaces data pack, there's a separate version of this pack that includes compatibility with it, called Better Faster Gear Smelting. Make sure you put BFGS above Fast Furnaces, since they replace the same default recipes.

Supports Minecraft 1.15 - 26.3. Mod support is not planned.
