What's new

Falling Tree – OneChop: Changelog

Version 1.1.0

🆕 Added

  • In-game settings menu. It opens automatically on first join. Reopen it anytime with /trigger ft_menu (no OP needed) or /function falling_tree:menu. Every player has their own settings.
  • Two activation modes. Hold Sneak (crouch while chopping) or Always Active (just chop). This is now your choice on every supported version.
  • Targets setting. Trees Only leaves player-built log structures alone. Trees + Placed Logs fells those too.
  • Block limit. Choose 32, 64 or Infinite blocks per chop. Infinite stops at about 1000 blocks because of the game’s per-tick command limit.
  • Axe durability. Every block costs 1 durability, and OneChop stops while the axe has 2 or fewer points left, so it can’t break mid-chop.
  • Silk Touch Leaves toggle. When it’s ON, leaves are harvested with your axe. Silk Touch drops intact leaf blocks and Fortune boosts saplings. When it’s OFF, leaves simply decay away with their usual drops.
  • Bamboo support. One chop fells the whole stalk, above and below the block you broke. It costs 1 durability per stalk.
  • Giant mushroom support. One chop fells the whole red or brown mushroom, harvested with your axe’s Silk Touch and Fortune. The limit is 4 times your normal one.
  • Falling collapse. Blocks break bottom-to-top with a rumble and dust that travel up the trunk. Switch to Instant if you prefer.
  • Per-player ON/OFF and Status and Help buttons in the menu.
  • Admin commands:
    • /function falling_tree:admin/set_max {value:64} sets a server-wide ceiling (0 = none).
    • /function falling_tree:admin/enable and /function falling_tree:admin/disable.
    • /function falling_tree:admin/reset_config.
  • Wider version support: Minecraft Java 26.1 to 26.3, with a 26.3 overlay.

🔧 Changed

  • Pack namespace is now falling_tree. It was treecap in 1.0.0.
  • Scan order. Felling goes up the trunk first, then branches, then the sides, then roots. A size limit now cuts off the outer branches before the trunk.
  • Safety box. Felling is capped at 9 blocks sideways and about 49 up or down from the log you broke.
  • Durability is charged for every block. In 1.0.0 on Java 26.3 it wasn’t.
  • Leaves touching a neighbouring tree’s logs are left in place, so that tree keeps its canopy.
  • Activation is no longer decided by Minecraft version. You choose it in the menu.

⚠️ Known limitations

  • It doesn’t activate in Creative mode.
  • Dense tree farms may still behave unexpectedly.
  • A very large canopy can pass the leaf cap, which is 8 times your limit, so a few leaves may stay.
  • A very fast head turn right as you break a block could occasionally fell the wrong target.

📌 Upgrading from 1.0.0

Remove the 1.0.0 pack before installing 1.1.0, then run /reload. They use different namespaces, so if both stay installed they will both react to the same chop. Players on 1.0.0 will see the welcome menu on their first join.

Version 1.0.0

  • One chop fells the whole connected tree.
  • 12 wood types: Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Mangrove, Cherry, Pale Oak, Poplar, Crimson and Warped.
  • Natural leaf drops.
  • Works with all 7 vanilla axes.
  • Java 26.3: sneak while chopping. Java 26.1.2: just chop.
