Introduction
Support for Minecraft 1.21+ only!
This data pack allows you to build structures in which you can sacrifice specific items to receive status effects. Here is a small guide on what to do in order to correctly set up your first shrine.
The Structure

To build an "effect shrine", you will need the following items:
- x9 Netherrack
- x4 Skeleton skull
- x4 Stone brick wall
- x1 Flint and steel (or x1 Fire charge)
Place the netherrack blocks in a 3x3 horizontal square and place the 4 stone brick walls in each corner of the square. Now place the 4 skeleton skulls on top of the stone brick walls and light the netherrack block in the center with a fire source of your choice.
Sacrificable Items
After setting up the shrine, you are now able to throw specific items into the fire in the center to sacrifice them for effects. Upon throwing an item into the fire, a random effect is given to all players in a 10-block radius depending on the item that was sacrificed. Currently, there are three supported items which each give one of a few possible effects. These are as follows:
- Diamond -> Speed I, Slow Falling I, Jump Boost II, Haste I
- Emerald -> Hero of the Village III, Regeneration I, Saturation I, Dolphin's Grace I
- Netherite ingot -> Fire Resistance III, Strength III, Resistance III, Absorption III, Health Boost III
Note that this is outdated; view the documentation for a full list.
Please note that there is a 30-minute (36,000 ticks) cooldown between each sacrifice per player globally for all shrines. Items sacrificed during that timeframe will be wasted! You will be notified in-game once the cooldown ends.
Customization
If you are a data pack nerd and understand how this works, you may also add your own sacrificable items and effects to this or modify the existing ones. Please note that reuploading this data pack or a remix of it for commercial purposes is not allowed.
