DAI Fundamentals — Survival is the default example and proof-of-concept datapack for Decisions and Impulses. Its purpose is to demonstrate how a completely external datapack can use the DAI framework to create its own Survival gameplay, menus, perception, objectives, and autonomous behaviors without modifying the core mod.
The pack adds its own [D-F] Survival entry to DAI and demonstrates contextual Available menus for Explore, Attack, Hunt, and Harvest. These menus react to the world around the player—for example, showing attacks only when supported hostile mobs are nearby, hunts when animals are detected, and harvesting options when recognized resources are present.
The most developed gameplay example included is tree harvesting. It demonstrates how multiple small DAI objectives can work together to locate logs, save targets as waypoints, approach and mine them, scan all 26 adjacent blocks, follow connected logs through a tree, recover nearby branches, collect dropped wood, and clean up temporary targeting/spatial state.
The pack also demonstrates custom recognition content with a simple short/tall grass recognition group, showing how third-party packs can define their own recognizable structures and expose actions through nearby_recognition.
This release should be considered an example/default starter pack rather than a complete Survival AI. Several Attack, Hunt, Explore, and Harvest menu entries are currently demonstrations/placeholders for behaviors that can be expanded as the pack develops.
Its main purpose is to show creators what is possible: DAI supplies the engine, while a standalone datapack supplies the gameplay.
