Classic Bad Omen

# Classic Bad Omen — Ominous Bottle Removed, Old Mechanics Restored

> **Bring back the classic pre-1.21 Bad Omen mechanics to modern Minecraft!**

Ever missed the danger and spontaneity of instantly getting **Bad Omen** when striking down an Illager Captain? In modern Minecraft (1.21+), raid captains drop an **Ominous Bottle** that you have to manually drink.

**Classic Bad Omen** removes the bottle drop from Raid Captains and restores the instant, stackable Bad Omen effect just like the old days!

## Features & Comparison

| Feature | Vanilla (Modern) | With Classic Bad Omen |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| **Defeating a Raid Captain** | Drops an Ominous Bottle | **Instantly grants Bad Omen** (No bottle) |
| **Omen Level** | Fixed by the dropped bottle tier | **Stacks dynamically (I → II → III → IV → V)** |
| **Effect Duration** | 100 Minutes | **100 Minutes** (Unchanged) |
| **Captains Killed During a Raid** | No Bottle | **No Bad Omen** (Matches legacy behavior) |
| **Trial Chambers (Vaults & Chests)**| Generates Ominous Bottles | **Unchanged** *(Trial Omen is still fully accessible!)* |

## How It Works

* **Instant Bad Omen on Kill**: As soon as you defeat a raid captain (the illager wearing the ominous banner), you are immediately cursed with Bad Omen.
* **Level Stacking (I – V)**: Killing multiple captains incrementally increases your Bad Omen tier up to **Bad Omen V**, ramping up the raid difficulty!
* **Trial Chamber Compatibility**: Bottles found inside Trial Chamber vaults, pots, and chests are **never deleted**. You can still collect them for ominous events.
* **Safe Raid Logic**: Killing captains spawned inside an active raid wave will not give you additional Bad Omen, preserving vanilla raid mechanics.

## Technical & Compatibility Info

* **Data Pack Only**: 100% server-side. No client mods required!
* **Vanilla Safe**: Uses lightweight markers and scoreboards (`nobottle` namespace).
* **Modern Omen System**: In modern versions, Bad Omen will still naturally convert into **Raid Omen** upon entering a village and **Trial Omen** near trial spawners.
