Optimized Waypoint Style Documentation
Optimization Background
I felt the default waypoint style was insufficiently intuitive, so I’ve made multi-faceted adjustments. This optimization requires both a Resource Pack and a Data Pack to function. Below is a detailed breakdown of the improvements:
New Features
- Creature Avatar Icons: Custom mini waypoint icons for all native game creatures have been designed. When the Data Pack is enabled, it automatically tracks nearby creatures, enabling quick visual identification.
- Distance-Based Transparency: Added a dynamic transparency system where waypoints become more transparent as the distance increases, helping players intuitively gauge their proximity to tracked creatures.
- Player Avatar Personalization: Support for custom player ID avatars (submit your ID in the comments to be added to the Resource Pack). Friends will see your unique icon in the positioning bar.
- Custom Creature Tracking: Use configuration files or commands to choose which creatures to track (e.g., hostile mobs, neutral mobs, or specific species only).
- Adjustable Tracking Limit: Set a maximum number of tracked creatures per type to avoid interface clutter (e.g., limit Creeper tracking to 10 at once).
- Multilingual Foundation: The current version uses Chinese by default. Future updates will gradually add English, Japanese, and other international language support.
Activation Steps
- Enable Cheats in your world (required during world creation or via
/op [player name]).
- After joining the game, wait for an auto-popup prompt to load the配套 Resource Pack and Data Pack.
- Activate full functionality with the command
/function betterwaypoint:tick (auto-loops after the first execution).
Future Plans
Thank you for downloading and supporting! Here’s our upcoming feature roadmap (✅ = Implemented, ⚒️ = In Development):
- ✅ Custom Tracking Range: Define the effective distance for creature tracking (e.g., activate within 100 blocks).
- ✅ Selective Creature Tracking: Already supported via configuration file filters.
- ✅ Tracked Creature Limit: Adjust the maximum number of displayed creatures per type.
- ✅ Compass Direction Guidance: New directional arrows on waypoints to show real-time target方位 (like coordinate navigation).
- ⚒️ Dynamic Waypoint Styles: In development – icons will change with creature states (e.g., red borders for injured mobs).
- 📌 Custom Mineral Tracking: Planned – add exclusive waypoints for resources like diamond ore and redstone ore.
- 🤝 Your Ideas Welcome: Leave special feature requests (e.g., boss alerts, item tracking) in the comments – your suggestion might shape the next update!
