Thirst Datapack

Adds thirst, heavily based off of the hunger system already in place.
Yikes! Water is dirty. You lose thirst faster now! Lasts 10 seconds per water bottle. It's also additive. Drink a water bottle at 7 seconds and you get 17 seconds of dehydration.

This data pack literally just adds thirst.

It functions similarly to the hunger system, where you have exhaustion, thirst and thirst saturation. (Also known as hydration.)

Walking one block adds 5 exhaustion. Running one block adds 15. Jumping adds 35. When exhaustion hits 600, you lose one hydration/thirst point. Drinking a bottle of water will give you "Dehydration." Dehydration adds 10 exhaustion every tick. This was done to make getting better thirst restoration a priority. I can only make it display by making the thirst bar green, however.

 

Items that restore thirst:

Water: 7 Thirst points, 2 Hydration Points, 10 seconds of Dehydration

Milk: 5 Thirst Points, 8 Hydration Points

Beetroot Soup: 3 Thirst Points, 12 Hydration Points

 

TODO:

 - Make milk restore more thirst

 - Add more thirst restoring items

 - Find a better way to deter people from using buckets of water and bottles, rather than a hunger styled effect

 

When you add the pack, run /reload. After that, run /scoreboard players set @a deathReset 0

This will make everyone that is currently in the server have thirst functional on them. Unsure how it will work without doing this.
