The plugin will do a mandatory conversion of player for users previously running on version v0.6. It shouldn't take very long (hopefully just seconds). The switch to the database format was made in order to reduce the amount of files being created and to save space on the filesystem.
All plugin commands were dropped in favor of editing the configuration file directly.
There have been many changes to the configuration file. It is recommended for users of v0.6 to regenerate their configuration by deleting it so they can use the plugin's new features.
