GhostSprint: Parkour ghosts and split times
GhostSprint turns existing terrain into parkour practice. Administrators define recording zones, trusted builders record routes with checkpoints, and players follow private particle ghosts while racing or practicing individual segments.
Features
- Administrator-approved recording zones and private drafts, with explicit publication.
- Checkpoint routes, viewer-local particle previews, full-route racing, and segment practice.
- Practice split comparisons and session-only personal bests.
- Bounded route storage, recording duration, active sessions, and particle budgets.
- No teleportation, terrain edits, inventory changes, forced chunk loading, telemetry, or persistent leaderboard. Ordinary damage and hazards still apply.
Requirements and installation
This beta retains the technical plugin name Route Echoes, its route-echoes JAR filename, and /routeechoes commands.
Free MIT-licensed beta for Paper 26.2 and Java 25. Put the JAR in the server plugins folder and restart normally. Start in a backed-up disposable test world. Do not hot-reload. Compatibility with other server implementations is not claimed.
Create a route
- As an administrator, stand at opposite corners and run
/routeechoes admin zone courtyard pos1and/routeechoes admin zone courtyard pos2. Include enough vertical space for jumps; zones need at least two blocks on each axis. - In Survival or Adventure without flight, run
/routeechoes record courtyard-loop. - Add checkpoints with
/routeechoes checkpoint, then save the private draft with/routeechoes finish. Keep checkpoint and start/finish centers more than 2.1 blocks apart. - Preview with
/routeechoes preview courtyard-loop. An administrator publishes with/routeechoes admin publish courtyard-loop.
Play
Use /routeechoes list, walk to the route start, and run /routeechoes race courtyard-loop. Stay within one block during the three-second countdown. /routeechoes practice courtyard-loop 2 practices the second segment after you walk to its start. /routeechoes stop ends your session. The short command alias is /recho.
routeechoes.play is enabled by default. Creation and administration use routeechoes.create and routeechoes.admin, both operator-only by default. Route and zone data stay on the server, including creator UUIDs and the coordinates/timing needed for the route. Personal bests are session-only.
Beta verification
Compilation, offline core tests, independent source review, and reproducible-build checks passed, including 61,914 assertions across 18 test groups. No Minecraft server or in-game tests have been run. Runtime particles, movement integration, performance, and compatibility remain unverified. Timing is practice feedback, not an anti-cheat or competitive-fairness guarantee. Test carefully before production use.
