• fixed to be compatible with bleeding Bukkit v1.4.4 builds
• cleaned up some minor file resource leaks (identified by JDK 1.7 compiler - thanks Java)
• some other minor code refactoring and cleanup

Thanks to Guyag for the fast PR. I had coded the fixes and then noticed he had a PR waiting which already had the exact fixes I had just coded, so I just merged his changes instead. :D Appreciate the help!
