Description

ItemCommands

ItemCommands is a simple, lightweight Paper plugin that lets you create custom commands that give players a saved item.

I originally made this for my own Minecraft server so I could give new players books with things like rules, mod information, and helpful server details. I wanted a way for players to get those books back if they lost them, so I made a command for it. Eventually, I decided to make it public and allow it to work with any item.

✦ How It Works

Hold the item you want to give players in your main hand and use:

/itemcommand set <command>

Example:

/itemcommand set rules

Players can then use:

/rules

to receive the saved item.

Items are saved and remain available after server restarts.

✦ Remove Commands

You can remove a saved item command with:

/itemcommand remove <command>

Example:

/itemcommand remove rules

This removes the /rules item command.

✦ What Can You Use?

ItemCommands works with any Minecraft item, not just books.

You can use it for things like:

  • /rules → Rules book
  • /mods → Mod information
  • /welcome → Welcome book
  • /guide → Player guide
  • /starter → Starter items

Items keep their custom names, lore, enchantments, and other item data.

✦ Server Restart

Newly created commands will work immediately, but they may appear red in chat because they haven't been registered as normal commands yet.

Restart the server after creating or removing a command to update the command registration and make it appear normally.

✦ Inventory Handling

If a player's inventory is full, the item will be dropped at their location instead of being deleted.

✦ Permissions

The management commands require:

itemcommands.admin

Players do not need this permission to use the created item commands.

✦ Commands

/itemcommand set <command> — Creates an item command using the item in your main hand.

/itemcommand remove <command> — Removes a saved item command.

✦ Simple & Lightweight

ItemCommands is intentionally kept simple. No complicated systems or unnecessary features, just an easy way to create commands that give players items.

♡ Made for my own server, now available for anyone who finds it useful.
