Emojis

A small Paper plugin that lets players use emojis in chat. Type :sob: and get 😭, or just paste an emoji from the Windows emoji picker (Win + .). With the included resource pack they show up in full color in-game instead of as little gray boxes.

Made for Paper 1.21 and newer.

What it does

• Turns :name: into the real emoji in chat (:sob:, :joy:, :fire:, :+1:, ...)
• About 5,000 built-in names, covering nearly every standard emoji (skin tones, flags and so on)
• Emojis typed or pasted directly into chat also render properly
• Sends a resource pack so the emojis are drawn in color. The plugin hosts the pack itself, so you don't need to upload it anywhere
• Works with DiscordSRV. Discord gets the normal Unicode emoji
• Players who decline the pack just see the regular emoji, nothing breaks

In the lists, click an emoji to copy its :name:.

Setup

1. Drop the jar into plugins/ and start the server.
2. Open plugins/Emojis/config.yml.
3. Under pack.embedded, set host to your server's public IP or domain, and make sure the port (8080 by default) is open for TCP. When testing on your own PC, localhost is fine.

If your host doesn't let you open extra ports, upload EmojisPack.zip somewhere with a direct link, set pack.mode to url, and fill in url and sha1.

You can also add your own names in the emojis: section of the config:

Notes

• Only works on Paper (and forks like Purpur). It uses Paper's chat event, so Spigot isn't supported.
• Emojis coming from Discord into Minecraft aren't converted to the colored icons.
