Upgradable backpacks and integrated workstations for Paper.

Backgalu adds a persistent backpack system for Paper. You can store items, progressively increase the backpack's capacity, and unlock workstations directly from it.

📥 Installation

1. Download Backgalu.
2. Place the .jar file in the plugins/ folder.
3. Start or restart the server.
4. Make sure the Backgalu resource pack is available to players. It should download automatically; otherwise, it is available on GitHub for manual download.

🎒 Creating the Backpack

The backpack is crafted using string, leather, and a chest.

Result: Base backpack — 27 slots.

🟠 Upgrading the Backpack to Level 1

Use 8 copper ingots around a level 0 backpack.

Capacity: 27 slots.

⚪ Upgrading the Backpack to Level 2

Use 8 iron ingots around a level 1 backpack.

Capacity: 45 slots.

🟡 Upgrading the Backpack to Level 3

Use 8 gold ingots around a level 2 backpack.

Capacity: 54 slots.

💎 Upgrading the Backpack to Level 4

Use 8 diamonds around a level 3 backpack.

Capacity: 54 slots.

🧩 Empty Upgrades and Workstation Upgrades

Workstation upgrades are crafted in two steps:

Empty Upgrade → Workstation Upgrade

🟠 Empty Upgrade Level 1

8 copper ingots around a copper block.

⚪ Empty Upgrade Level 2

8 iron ingots around an empty level 1 upgrade.

🟡 Empty Upgrade Level 3

8 gold ingots around an empty level 2 upgrade.

💎 Empty Upgrade Level 4

8 diamonds around an empty level 3 upgrade.

🛠️ Converting an Empty Upgrade into a Workstation Upgrade

Level 1 — Crafting Table

The level 1 empty upgrade is combined with a crafting table.

Unlocks: Crafting Table.

Level 2 — Furnace

The level 2 empty upgrade is combined with a furnace.

Unlocks: Crafting Table + Furnace.

Level 3 — Smoker

The level 3 empty upgrade is combined with a smoker.

Unlocks: Crafting Table + Furnace + Smoker.

Level 4 — Blast Furnace

The level 4 empty upgrade is combined with a blast furnace.

Unlocks: Crafting Table + Smoker + Blast Furnace.

🎒 Applying Upgrades to the Backpack and Visual Appearance

Once a workstation upgrade has been created, it can be applied to the backpack to unlock its functions. The upgrades must be applied in order, starting with Upgrade 1 and then the backpack.

The upgrades also change the backpack's appearance to visually represent its progress.

🛠️ Crafting Table Inside the Backpack

The crafting table can be accessed directly from the backpack interface, without having to place a crafting table in the world.

💾 Persistence

Backpack contents are saved persistently. Integrated workstations also maintain their state associated with the backpack.

🎨 Resource Pack

Backgalu uses custom models and textures to represent the backpacks and their different levels.
