Smooth GUI (version 1.0.0, min engine 1.26.30) is a lightweight animation-only resource pack for Minecraft Bedrock Edition. It doesn't change any textures or art — it purely overrides the UI animation curves defined in the vanilla hud_screen.json and toast_screen.json to make interface elements move with proper easing instead of snapping into place.
What it changes:
- Hotbar slot selector — When switching hotbar slots, the selection highlight now animates in and out using out_quint easing. On entry, it fades in (alpha 0→1) while shrinking from 125% to 100% size over 0.3s, giving a soft "settle" effect instead of an instant pop.
- Item name tooltip — The floating item-name label above the hotbar fades in over 0.2s, holds for 1s, then fades out over 0.4s, replacing the default abrupt show/hide.
- Toast notifications — The popup/toast animation (used for advancement and system toasts) is overridden from the default linear easing to in_out_back, causing the toast to overshoot slightly and snap back both when sliding in and sliding out — a more playful, elastic motion.
- Chat animations (optional subpacks) — The pack ships two selectable subpacks:
* Top Chat: chat messages grow into view from the top (out_expo size animation) and slide in from the left with an out_expo offset, each message fading in with in_quart alpha over 0.3s.
* Bottom Chat: functionally mirrors Top Chat's easing and timing (same out_expo/in_expo curves for pile-up, pile-down, and horizontal slide), applied so messages stack from the bottom instead.
Overall, the pack is a polish/QoL mod aimed at making the HUD feel less mechanical — smoothing hotbar switching, tooltip fades, toast pop-ins, and chat message entry/exit — without altering any visual assets.
