True Java Saturation [2.8.0]
What's new
v2.8: The Big One
This is a full rewrite. Saturation healing is now genuinely Java accurate, and the addon finally shows you what your food does.
New: the food preview HUD
Hold any food and the hunger bar previews what eating it would give you, the same readout Java players have had for years.
- Ghost drumsticks show the hunger you would restore
- A gold overlay shows your current saturation, and how much the held food adds
- Works with vanilla food and with food added by other addons
- Reads your real values live, with nothing to configure
This update adds a resource pack. It ships inside the .mcaddon and applies automatically. Just make sure both packs are active in your world.
Healing rewritten to match Java exactly
The old version healed a flat 1 HP for 1 saturation, only at full hunger, and it left vanilla regeneration switched on underneath. You were getting Bedrock's healing plus this addon's healing on top of it.
Now:
- Vanilla regeneration is turned off and the addon drives healing itself, so you get Java's behaviour instead of both at once
- Saturation costs 1.5 per HP, which is Java's real rate, not 1
- Healing scales with the saturation you actually have. Below 6 saturation, Java heals proportionally less. The old version paid out a full HP for scraps, which is why healing used to feel far too generous
- Java's slow regeneration is now implemented. At 18+ hunger you heal 1 HP every 4 seconds, with proper exhaustion draining saturation, then hunger
- Fast regeneration still fires every 0.5s at full hunger with saturation left
Fixes
- Dead players are no longer healed behind the death screen
- One player erroring can no longer stop healing and the HUD for everyone else on the server
- If the game rule cannot be changed, the addon now stands down instead of silently double healing, and says so once in the content log
- Custom foods with incomplete data no longer break the preview
Other
- Cleaner, fully commented source
