A Pickaxe that mines 3x3

Excavator

One pickaxe. 3×3 mining, auto-smelt, telekinesis. The endgame mining tool you wished vanilla shipped with — every swing breaks a 3×3 face, ores come out pre-smelted, and every drop flies straight into your inventory.

What it does

Craft the Excavator, hold it, and break any stone/ore block. The 8 blocks around your target are mined along with it (in the plane you're facing), ores are auto-smelted into ingots, and every drop — ores, stone, dirt, sand, gravel — gets vacuumed straight into your inventory. No more bouncing around picking things up.

Features

• ⛏️ 3×3 area mining — one swing breaks the whole face you're looking at
• 🔥 Auto-smelt on ores — raw_iron → iron_ingot, raw_gold → gold_ingot, raw_copper → copper_ingot, ancient_debris → netherite_scrap, cobblestone → stone, cobbled_deepslate → deepslate
• 🧲 Full telekinesis — every drop goes straight to your inventory. Nothing hits the ground
• 🤝 Plays nice with Veinminer — sneak to disable the 3×3 (so the Veinminer add-on can take over for ore veins)
• 💎 Craftable — late-game recipe using netherite and diamond
• 🛡️ Tier: netherite-equivalent durability (2031 uses), faster mining speed
• 🎮 Creative-safe — no durability cost or 3×3 trigger in creative mode

How to use

1. Install the .mcaddon (double-click to open in Minecraft)
2. Create or edit a world and enable the Excavator behavior + resource pack
3. Turn on the "Beta APIs" experiment (required)
4. Craft the Excavator at a crafting table
5. Mine — face the wall, swing, watch a 3×3 hole appear with everything in your inventory
6. Sneak to disable the 3×3 for a precise single-block break

Compatibility

• Minecraft Bedrock: 1.21.0 and newer
• Platforms: Windows, Console, Mobile, Realms
• Experiments required: Beta APIs
• Cheats: not required
• Works with: Veinminer add-on (sneak hands control to Veinminer)

Known limitations

• Tag-based diagonal mining uses the dominant view axis — extreme diagonal stares occasionally choose the "wrong" plane.
• Drops from modded blocks need to be addable to vanilla inventory (most are). Truly exotic modded blocks will still drop on the ground.
• Achievements are disabled in any world with Beta APIs enabled — Mojang restriction.
