Task Master

Task Master is a Bedrock multiplayer challenge where players get secret tasks and take turns controlling one shared character. Complete your task first to win. Includes 100 tasks, spectator mode, settings, resets and a win leaderboard.

Task Master Challenge is a Minecraft Bedrock multiplayer challenge pack built around one shared character, secret objectives, timed control switching, sabotage, and round wins.

The main idea is that every player gets a different secret challenge. Only one player is in control at a time, and after a set amount of time, control rotates to the next player. Everyone who is not currently playing is put into Spectator mode. When control changes, the next player inherits the shared character’s position, inventory, armour, health, hunger, XP, and current situation, so whatever the previous player did can help or completely ruin your plan.

The pack includes 100 different challenges across Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme difficulties. Some are simple, like obtaining wood, crafting tools, getting food, or reaching a certain height. Harder ones include getting diamonds, killing dangerous mobs, entering other dimensions, crafting advanced items, collecting Nether resources, or surviving on very low health. Extreme challenges include things like getting Elytra, killing the Wither, killing the Ender Dragon, getting Netherite gear, getting a Beacon, or collecting rare End items.

Each round works like this: an operator starts the game with /tm:start or /function start. Every player is secretly assigned a task. One person is chosen as the first controller, everyone else goes into Spectator, and the turn timer begins. When the timer expires, the shared character is handed to the next player. This continues until someone completes their challenge.

When a player completes their task, the round ends immediately. Everyone is teleported to the winner and returned to Survival mode. The winner receives a point on the persistent sidebar leaderboard so you can play multiple rounds and keep track of overall wins.

The reset system uses /tm:reset or /function reset. It clears the players’ inventories and normal round state, restores health, and moves everyone together to a completely different area thousands of blocks away. The leaderboard is kept, so the next round continues the overall competition instead of wiping everyone’s score.

Operators also get a settings menu through /tm:settings or /function settings. From there you can change the turn length, choose who goes first or leave it random, choose which task difficulties can appear, and restore the default settings. Turn lengths currently include 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180, and 300 seconds.

There are also utility commands such as /tm:task to view your secret objective again, /tm:status to check the current player and timer, /tm:help for the commands, and /function diagnose for checking whether the behavior pack and JavaScript system loaded correctly.

The current version also uses your custom Task Master Challenge crown/scroll artwork as the actual Bedrock pack icon.

So the gameplay loop is basically:

secret task → one shared character → timed player switching → sabotage/cooperation → someone completes their task → winner earns a point → reset far away → new round. To start cheats must be activated.
