Striderbird Add-On
Take to the skies with the Striderbird, a giant, rideable bird that brings new wildlife, rare colors, custom crops, and a unique flight experience to your Minecraft world!
Meet the Striderbird
Striderbirds are large birds that roam the Overworld and come in **16 color variants**. They usually appear in small groups of one or two, and you may encounter either an adult or, more rarely, a baby. They have 25 health points and can climb blocks, making them well suited to exploring varied terrain.

Taming and raising
You can tame an adult Striderbird with a Tamer’s Plum. Each attempt has a 20% chance of success, so you may need more than one. Babies cannot be tamed, but they grow into adults over time. Feeding a baby Bondberries helps it grow faster.

Bondberries also heal Striderbirds and let two Striderbirds breed. Breeding does not require them to be tamed, so you can raise a new generation and discover different colors.

Ride, climb, and fly
Once tamed, equip your Striderbird with a Striderbird Mount and ride it. The mount is made with three pieces of leather arranged in a Y shape on a crafting table.

While riding, the Striderbird follows the direction you look. It can automatically step up blocks while you travel, and you can charge a jump for an extra leap. To fly, look upward to make it rise; look more level or downward to glide gently. Flight requires the Striderbird to be saddled and ridden.
Special crops and items
Find and grow two custom crops in the Overworld:
- Bondberry plants grow Bondberries, used to heal, breed, and help baby Striderbirds grow.

- **Tamer’s Plum plants** grow Tamer’s Plums, used to tame adult Striderbirds.

Both crops have four growth stages. Plant them on farmland, dirt, grass blocks, or grass paths, and use bone meal to speed up their growth. Fully grown plants yield their fruit.
Feathers, meat, and cooking
Adult Striderbirds produce a Striderbird Feather every five minutes. When a Striderbird is defeated, it drops 1–2 Raw Striderbird Meat and 1–3 Striderbird Feathers.

Cook the raw meat in a furnace, smoker, campfire, or soul campfire to make Cooked Striderbird Meat. The cooked meat restores hunger and grants a temporary speed boost. Raw meat can also be eaten, but it briefly causes hunger as well as a speed boost. Eating a Bondberry grants temporary regeneration, while eating a Tamer’s Plum grants a temporary speed boost.

Sounds and exploration
Listen for the Striderbird’s ambient calls, footsteps, interactions, hurt and death sounds, and separate jump and flight sounds. Search the Overworld in well-lit areas to find one—these birds are intentionally uncommon, so spotting one can be the beginning of a new adventure.
