Self-Evolving Villages

Villagers that gather resources, switch roles, build their own houses, farm, defend against mobs, and even trade or clash with neighboring villages — a self-sufficient civilization simulation.

Villagers that act like a real, self-sufficient civilization instead of static NPCs — they gather resources, switch jobs based on what the village needs, build their own houses, farm their own food, defend against hostile mobs, and even interact with neighboring villages.

Features

Automatic resource gathering — villagers path to nearby trees and stone, harvest them, and add the resources to a shared village pool.

Dynamic role-switching — workers automatically become Builders when there's enough material, Farmers when food runs low, or Guards when a hostile mob is nearby.

Auto-building — once resources are banked, a Builder constructs a new house using Minecraft's native layer-by-layer placement animation (no lag spikes).

Farming — a dedicated farm patch (with its own water source) gets tilled, planted, and harvested on a predictable growth cycle.

Guard defense — Guards fight off nearby hostile mobs and retreat when their health runs low.

Village diplomacy — nearby villages automatically build a trading road between them; if both run low on resources at the same time, a small, non-lethal border dispute can break out.

Player Mayor system — become a village's Mayor, donate resources, and get a Guard Escort or a custom Statue as a reward for rare donations. Mayors can also set a compass direction to bias where the village expands.

Personality touches — every worker has a unique name, and nearby villagers occasionally have short ambient conversations with each other.

How to Use

Activate the behavior pack in your world (enable Beta APIs under Experiments).

Turn cheats on.

In chat, type !village start to spawn a new village with 4 named workers.

Interact with any worker to see their status, donate resources, or become Mayor.

Start a second village 20-120 blocks away to see the diplomacy system kick in (or use !village dispute to force-test a border dispute instantly).

Notes

Movement uses a lightweight step-based system rather than full A* pathfinding — works great at village scale, but won't navigate around large obstacles.

Fully self-contained — works in a normal singleplayer/Realms world, no external server or API key required.
