Secret Level Enchantments (Bedrock Edition)
Shhhhhh... Its a secret!
Secret Level Enchantments is a Minecraft Bedrock add-on that expands vanilla enchantments from Level I all the way to Level XX.
The goal of this project is simple: extend vanilla enchantments in ways that feel natural while staying lightweight and as compatible with other Bedrock add-ons as possible.
«This add-on is currently for Minecraft Bedrock Edition only.»

Dual Scaling
Every Secret Enchantment uses a custom Dual Scaling system.
Each enchantment scales based on:
- Secret Enchantment Level (I–XX)
- The material of the item
For example, a Netherite tool has a much higher maximum potential than a Wooden tool, while still allowing every material to benefit from Secret Enchantments.
Each enchantment has its own custom scaling curve and has been balanced individually rather than using one formula for everything.
How To Use
Secret Enchanting Table
Create or find an Enchanting Table.
Crouch (Sneak) and interact with the Enchanting Table while holding a compatible item to open the Secret Enchanting menu.
From there you can apply a Secret Enchantment to your equipment.
The ritual includes custom particle effects and success/failure feedback.

Secret Smithing Table
Once an item has a Secret Enchantment, it can be upgraded. (It MUST be enchanted first or this will not work. This is intentional)
Crouch (Sneak) and interact with a Smithing Table while holding the enchanted item.
Select the Secret Enchantment you wish to upgrade and provide the required upgrade materials.
Upgrade Costs
Secret Enchanting
Applying a Secret Enchantment requires:
- Nether Bricks (Not the block, the actual brick - It kinda looks like an ingot tehee)

Secret Enchantments intentionally use Nether Bricks instead of ingots.
They have a similar appearance to ingots, while encouraging players to actually explore the Nether rather than simply mining more overworld resources. This also acts as a gateway to prevent too early game becoming overpowered too quickly. While it is meant to make you overpowered, I wanted this mod to at least start once you hit nether, as by that point, you could seriously use some major upgrades to everything.
To obtain Nether Bricks:
1. Travel to the Nether (or repair an existing ruined portal).
2. Mine Netherrack.
3. Smelt the Netherrack into Nether Bricks.
4. Use the Nether Bricks as the primary enchanting material. (Do not turn them into blocks to use the workstations, blocks will not work!)
Secret Smithing Upgrades
Upgrading Secret Enchantments uses progressively rarer materials.
Levels I – V
- Copper Ingots
Levels VI – X
- Iron Ingots
Levels XI – XV
- Gold Ingots
Levels XVI – XIX
- Diamonds
Level XX
- Netherite Ingot

Each level requires additional material than the previous level.
Reaching Level XX is intentionally expensive and designed as a true endgame goal.
(I am still working out how to balance this section. For now, it's relatively simple to get anything to level 20 granted you have at least 1 nether ingot to do it for that enchantment, but it will cost 1 netherite ingot per enchantment on an item to get it to level 20. Ive also made the scale happen on a curve, so later levels are adding far more than earlier levels to make up for the cost of resources later on, making progressing each level actually beneficial each time - with some caveats to minecrafts limitations)
Expanded Vanilla Mechanics
Several Secret Enchantments extend vanilla behavior in ways that still feel natural.
Examples include:
- Fortune works on trees when using an Axe.
- Power works on both Bows and Crossbows.
- Protection scales individually on each armor piece.
- Mixed armor sets calculate protection correctly.
These additions are intended to expand vanilla gameplay rather than replace it.
Vanilla Enchantments Still Work
Secret Enchantments are not replacements for vanilla enchantments.
Vanilla enchantments continue to function normally and can stack alongside Secret Enchantments whenever they are compatible. Since this is the case, I wont be adding secret enchantments for things like Silk Touch, Infinity, Mending and things like that since it would go too far messing with minecraft code and I want to avoid too many dupe changes stacking when its mechanics vs number increases. So a mending villager is still needed, but you can at least make a high level of unbreaking with this mod to buy some time until you get it.
For example:
- Vanilla Unbreaking still works.
- Vanilla Mending still works.
- Vanilla Efficiency still works.
- Vanilla Power still works.
The goal is to extend Minecraft—not overwrite it.

Known Limitations
- Croutch Right clicking (Or Using the table while croutching) on the Enchantment Table or Smithing Table is now assigned to these new UI menus, this means you CANNOT place blocks on them becuase of this. Just be aware please. Its still easy to build around it so it hasnt felt game breaking to interact with in any way, let me know if you a specific edge case around this cause I havent seen a reason why this isnt acceptable in vast majority of cases.
- Some Enchantments are sort of "Fake" with their percentages. It feels better to upgrade and see number go up, but theres some enchantments - due to minecrafts way its coded - that work in thresholds, like 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% etc. So any number inbetween is actually fake. It felt bad upgrading and seeing the number stay the same so I at least made number go up when these were encountered. I'm sorry if this fools you, if you would prefer I didn't fake it let me know, i did it based on my own play experience while testing. Plugging in a few diamonds to see no change made me think it was an error, and I didnt want that feeling.
- Quick Charge is hard coded to all crossbows. At least, thats what the AI sort of implied. Im still going to try and get it working but there seems to be a code limitation on this one and its one that I wanted THE MOST of all. So Hopefully AI is just lying to me and I can totally get it working, I will be trying again.
- Tridents will need a custom enchantment for flat damage increase. Will come at a later date.

Feedback
This project is still actively being developed.
If you encounter bugs, balancing issues, compatibility problems, or have ideas for future Secret Enchantments, please leave a comment or open an issue.
When reporting bugs, including your Minecraft version and the steps needed to reproduce the issue is extremely helpful.
A Personal Note
This project started because my son absolutely loves Minecraft mods, but he only plays Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
I'm not a programmer, but I wanted to build something we could both enjoy while keeping it lightweight and highly compatible with other Bedrock add-ons. With a lot of persistence, testing, and the help of modern AI tools, we slowly turned that idea into a real project.
Every feature has gone through rounds of testing, balancing, and discussion together. AI helped write code and solve technical challenges, but every design decision, gameplay mechanic, and direction came from us.
I also want to note, this is the first of many mods I anticipate making. This is sort of a testing ground of ideas, and seeing how much can be done with Bedrock and AI, I think I can make some much crazier ideas floating around. Ideally, theya re all compatible and eventually can be in 1 big pack, or kept split if you just want individual ones, especially one like this thats highly compatible with other mods (ideally)
Thanks for checking out Secret Level Enchantments!
