When Comparing Minecraft java and bedrock, there's always one thing that stands out: The Food. Food in Minecraft Bedrock just feels off.
In Java Edition, eating food doesn't just fill your hunger bar. It also fills a hidden stat called saturation, which sits on top of the hunger bar and delays how fast it drains, while also enabling faster health regeneration.
Bedrock has never had this mechanic, which makes food feel kind of pointless beyond just keeping you from starving. A golden carrot and a slice of melon feel the same, which is just wrong.
This addon brings saturation over to Bedrock, matching Java's values and behavior as closely as the scripting API allows.
What saturation actually does
Saturation is a hidden value that sits on top of your hunger bar. It doesn't show up on screen, but it affects two things:
- It slows hunger drain. Saturation depletes before your visible hunger bar does, so eating high saturation foods like golden carrot, cooked beef, etc means your hunger bar stays full much longer.
- It enables fast health regen. When your hunger bar is completely full (20/20) and you have saturation remaining, you'll regenerate 1 HP every half second — same speed as Java Edition. Each heal costs 1.5 saturation, so richer foods keep you healing for longer.
Saturation caps at 20 and resets to 5 on death, exactly like Java.
Per-food saturation values
Every food item has been mapped to its Java Edition saturation value. Here's the full breakdown:
| Saturation |

Installation
- Use MCPEDL app on Mobile (Android + IOS) for ease of downloading and installing packs directly into minecraft.
- Use Bedrock Manager on Windows For installing addons, packs, worlds, etc and managing them + more features!
Restricition
- When Sharing the Content on Youtube or other platform, Give original mcpedl or curseforge link Only.
- You are not allowed to reupload the project or any platform and claim it as yours.
Notes
- Activate both resource pack and behavior pack.
- Cake is not supported. In Bedrock, cake is placed as a block and eaten differently. There's no clean workaround for this as of now.
- The hunger drain slowdown from saturation isn't fully replicable on Bedrock due to API limitations. what this addon does is handle the regen side and the saturation accumulation from eating, which covers the most impactful part of the mechanic.
