Description

This Mod does NOT use any Experiments and is Achievement Friendly! Add and play to any world.

RuneForge is heavily inspired by the magic system of the world of Gielinor, from the 2001 MMORPG Runescape.

Getting Started

Find a feather and cobblestone, and craft an Air Rune . Congrats! you can now cast Ascend and craft Mind Runes . To do that, you'll need a dandelion.

Once you've unlocked and crafted the six common runes , you'll need to craft two more types of runes - the Chaos and Body runes - to build a Runeforge. All further spellcrafting will need one of those to work.

After you've built a Runeforge, it's a matter of gathering resources. Some high-level spells only work with runes crafted from the drops of deadly enemies, while others draw their power from beautiful yet simple things.

There will be spoilers at the bottom of this page with all recipes included as a reference.

The Magic

Runeforge currently has eight different families of spells of varying sizes.

Elemental spells are the primary offensive form of magic available. They channel the energy of the four classical elements (earth, water, fire, air) into powerful and destructive spells.

Air spells are fast and will send your target flying. Fire will immolate anything it touches. Water spells deal splash damage and are supercharged in the Nether. Earth spells can punch a hole through anything short of obsidian!

Blessings channel life force and shape the flow of magic through YOU, the magician. They give many powerful and helpful effects, like seeing in the dark, breathing under water, immense strength, and even extra life! Their cooldown period is usually one minute less than their duration--if you are careful, you can give yourself a full 60 seconds with two blessings at once!

Hexes are the secondary offensive magic system available in Runeforge. They offer a wide range of available powers. A hex available early in the game, Ascend, is quite useful for scouting, climbing, or making a fast escape from dangerous situations. A late endgame Hex, Lightning Storm, is particularly dangerous, so be careful!

Alchemy is exactly what you think it is. Have you ever desired to turn simple metals into strong ones? Well, now you can. These spells require many Order runes to work, along with ample quantities of base metal. One whole stack of copper bars, along with 21 spellcasts (16 to for the copper, 4 for the iron, and 1 for the gold), are required for a single netherite scrap!

You can also convert crystals, as well. Crystalline Alchemy is much more efficient then metallic alchemy; 3 base crystals can be converted into 2 of the higher crystal, in the following order: Quartz, Amethyst, Emerald, Diamond.

Though it is not a true form of Alchemy, the power of Life runes can also be channeled to convert large quanties of ordinary items into valuable materials at the Runeforge. Mushrooms contain trace amounts of copper; Pumpkins are high in iron; cocoa beans naturally have scarce amounts of gold in them! And as everyone knows, Diamonds are made of carbon--so is coal!

Runestones : different from Runes, Runestones harness ancient magic to fold space and time. Currently, there are only Warp and Experience spells, but more are in development.

Warp spells let you cross vast distances in the blink of an eye! They have increasing ranges between the Skip, Jump, and Warp spells, so be careful! If you try to teleport further than the range of the Skip and Jump spells, you'll lose spell. The Warp spell itself is only limited by your line of sight.

Experience spells are expensive, but worth it! A Pebble of Experience really isn't that much, but a Mountain? You'll never need to farm mobs again.

Calling spells are a lesser form of Necromancy, using Body runes and the meat of an animal to bring two more to life! There are currently seven, one for each of the meat-dropping animals, and one spell to call Zombies.

Summoning spells tap into the astral plane to bring otherworldly beings to your world. They are hostile to most mobs, and can only cast one spell. Currently, there are only four of them in this version of Runeforge - more are still in development.

Wizards

Three kinds of Wizards can now visit your world! They can trade with you, and will fight any and all monsters. They're particularly fond of air magic, but they won't hesistate to cast earth spells if Illagers are around!

Brown wizards will trade for all of your crops. Blue wizards love common runes. Gray wizards are mysterious, but if you can level their trades up you will find them to be an excellent source of high-level magic.
