RR Chat Games - Multiplayer Mini-Games

Whats up guys Racing Raftaar here back with another behavior pack. Today i am bringing you something that is going to completely cure the boredom on your multiplayer realms and SMP servers. We all know that playing survival minecraft with your friends is really fun but sometimes people just go quiet. Everyone is just mining in their own caves or building their houses miles away from each other and the chat is completely dead. There is no interaction between the players. I really wanted to fix this and bring some life back to the chat. So i created the RR Chat Games addon. This pack adds four fully automatic chat based mini games that pop up on your screen and force everyone to compete with each other for points while they are playing normal survival. It makes the server feel so much more alive and interactive.

​The Four Mini Games

​I packed four completely different types of games into this system so it never gets boring. Let me explain what they are. First we have the classic Minecraft Trivia. The game will randomly ask a question in the chat like what mob drops phantom membrane or what y level do diamonds generate at. The first person to type the correct answer wins the round. Second we have the Word Scramble. The addon takes popular minecraft words like obsidian or enderman and completely jumbles the letters. You have to look at the scrambled letters and type the correct word before anyone else figures it out.

​The third game is my personal favorite and it is called Would You Rather. This is not about being the fastest. The game will give the whole server two crazy choices like would you rather fight 100 zombies or fight 1 wither, or would you rather never mine again or never build again. Everyone gets to vote for option 1 or option 2. At the end of the timer it shows the final percentage of what the server voted for. It always starts funny arguments in the chat. And the fourth game is the Math Challenge. It throws random addition subtraction or multiplication problems on the screen and you have to do quick mental math to win.

​How To Play And Answer

​Now you are probably wondering how you actually play and submit your answers. I wanted to keep the vanilla chat clean so you dont have to type weird commands. When you first join the world the addon automatically gives you two items in your inventory. You get a Clock and a Book. If you hold the Book and sneak it opens a clean UI text box where you can safely type your trivia answers or cast your votes for the would you rather game. It is super fast and easy.

​If you hold the Clock and sneak it opens the main Game Menu. This is where you can see your current points, check what game is currently active, and literally start any mini game manually if you dont want to wait for the automatic timer.

​Points And Leaderboard System

​Because this is a competitive pack i had to add a proper reward system. Every single time you are the first person to correctly answer a trivia question, unscramble a word or solve the math problem, you are rewarded with 10 points and 1 win added to your profile. The game plays a loud level up sound for you and announces to the whole server that you won the round. You can open the clock menu and click on the Leaderboard tab to see exactly who has the most points on the server. It shows the top 10 players so you can always try to beat your friends and claim the number one spot.

​Auto Start And Settings

​If you are running a server you dont want to manually start games all day. So i built a fully automatic timer system. By default the addon will randomly pick one of the four mini games and start it every 2 minutes. When a game starts a 45 second timer appears on the action bar for everyone online. When the timer hits 10 seconds and 5 seconds it plays warning sounds so everyone panics to get the answer in time. If nobody answers the game just reveals the correct answer and goes back to sleep. If you want to turn this auto start feature off, you can just go into the settings tab in the clock menu and disable it completely.

​Beta APIs Setup

​Just like all my other advanced behavior packs this one uses custom dynamic properties to save your exact points and wins forever. It also uses background scripts to run the automatic timers and the UI menus. So you absolutely must turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings before you play. If you dont turn it on the clock and book items will not open any menus and the chat games will not start at all.
