Hi guys Racing Raftaar here back with another Add-on. Today i am bringing you something that is extremely important if you run a multiplayer server, a realm or even just a big survival world with your friends. We all know how toxic and annoying minecraft chat can get sometimes. You invite people to your server and suddenly someone starts spamming the chat with random letters, typing in all capital letters, or using bad words that ruin the experience for everyone else. It is super hard to be an admin and moderate the chat 24/7 because you also have to sleep and do other things. So i decided to create the RR Chat Filter addon. This pack basically acts as an automatic robot moderator for your world that runs constantly in the background and keeps your chat completely clean and safe.
The Five Filter Layers
I designed this addon to have five different layers of security so no spammers can bypass it. Let me explain how each one works. First there is the Cooldown filter. This stops players from rapid firing messages. If they try to send a message before the cooldown timer is finished, the game plays a warning sound and tells them to slow down. Second is the Repeat filter. We all know those players who just copy and paste the same message like "give me op" over and over again. This filter detects if their new message is exactly the same as their last message and blocks it completely.
Third is the Flood protection. This is for people who try to send massive walls of text or use bots to crash the chat. It tracks how many messages a player sends within a specific time limit, and if they cross the maximum limit they get blocked. Fourth is the Caps lock filter. If someone is screaming in the chat with all capital letters, the system actually calculates the percentage of capital letters in their sentence. If it is too high, it doesnt block the message but it automatically forces their entire sentence into lowercase letters. And finally the fifth layer is the Bad Words filter. This is the most useful one. If a player types a toxic word that is on your block list, the system will automatically replace that specific word with star symbols so nobody else has to read it.
Custom Settings And UI Menus
I wanted to make sure server owners have full control over these filters so i added a massive settings menu. When you join the world for the first time you will automatically receive two items in your inventory. You get a Book and a Clock. If you hold the clock and sneak it opens the admin filter settings. From this UI menu you can literally customize everything. You can turn the entire filter on or off with one button. You can change the cooldown timer to 3 seconds or 10 seconds. You can set the caps limit percentage, like if a message is 70 percent capital letters it gets lowered. You can even adjust the flood protection to allow 5 messages every 10 seconds or whatever you think is best for your server.
Managing Bad Words In Game
The coolest part about the settings menu is how you manage the bad words. You dont have to open the code files or edit any json documents to add blocked words. You just open the menu using the clock and click on the bad words tab. Here you will see a list of every word you have blocked. You can click the add word button and just type any toxic word into the text field. The system immediately saves it and starts censoring it. If you accidentally block a normal word you can just go to the remove word section and unblock it instantly. It is so user friendly and makes server moderation completely stress free. Also to actually chat using this system, players just need to hold the Book item and sneak, which opens a safe chat menu for them to type their messages so the filter can scan it properly.
Beta APIs Setup
Because this behavior pack intercepts messages and uses dynamic properties to permanently save all your custom settings and your custom bad word lists, you absolutely must turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings. If you dont turn this on before you load the world, the custom clock and book menus will not open and the chat filter will not function at all. So please remember to check that toggle in your world experiments.
