Pet Rock
The lowest-maintenance friend you'll ever own. A Pet Rock follows you everywhere, asks for nothing, and is always happy to see you.
What you get
- Pet Rock — a stackable item, craftable from 4 cobblestone and 4 string.
- Tiny Rock Companion — a followable pet that hovers at your heels.
How to use
- Craft a Pet Rock: 4 cobblestone in a + shape, surrounded by 4 string.
- Bounce it: Right-click in the air (or on a block) while holding. The rock does a little hop with happy particles. No item consumed.
- Adopt it: Sneak + right-click on a block (or the air) to spawn the rock. It pops into existence, sparkles, and starts following you.
- Name it: Right-click the companion with a name tag (or use the nameable UI). Names persist across logins.
- Pet it: Right-click the companion to hear a happy chime and see heart particles.
- Pick it back up: Sneak + right-click while it's out. The rock hops back into your inventory.
Behavior
- The rock teleports to stay 2 blocks behind you as you walk, run, fly, or ride a minecart. No AI means it never falls in lava or gets stuck.
- The rock doesn't despawn when you log out — rejoin to find it where you left it.
- Each player has their own pet rock. Multiplayer-safe.
Tips
- Name your rock before you set it down — the name shows in the action bar when it spawns.
- If your rock somehow gets killed (it has 1 HP), it shatters and you'll be notified.
- Pet rocks don't take fall damage, can't drown, and are immune to knockback. They're perfect adventuring companions.
Compatibility
- Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.20.0 and newer
- Realms and multiplayer supported
- Achievements remain enabled (no cheats or experimental flags required)
- Does not conflict with other add-ons
Notes
- Each Pet Rock in your inventory is one adoption. Stack of 64 = up to 64 rocks (one active at a time per player).
