Quickstart
- Find Patchwork Hares in plains, flower forests, meadows, taigas, groves, snowy taigas, snowy plains, or snowy slopes. They spawn on grass or snow in daylight, usually in small groups.
- Feed a wild hare a carrot until it becomes tame.
- Craft a Patchwork Hare Purse to carry your tamed hare.
- Hold the purse and use it while looking at your tamed hare. The hare is stored inside the purse.
- Use a filled purse while looking away from another hare to release your companion in front of you.
- Craft a Patchwork Hare Paint Tool, use it on a tamed rabbit, and select a new coat from the menu.
For quick Creative testing, use the spawn egg named Patchwork Hare Spawn Egg, or run:
/summon com_patchwork_hare_6t54lssw:myrabbit

What It Adds
| Content | Use |
|---|---|
| Patchwork Hare | A small tameable rabbit mob with multiple coats |
| Patchwork Hare Spawn Egg | Spawns a Patchwork Hare from the Creative inventory |
| Patchwork Hare Purse | Stores one tamed Patchwork Hare for transport |
| Patchwork Hare Paint Tool | Opens a coat-selection menu for a tamed rabbit |
Wild and newly spawned Patchwork Hares use the Splotched Patchwork coat. The paint tool lets you choose from the complete coat collection.
How To Use
Finding and Spawning
Patchwork Hares naturally spawn on the surface in daylight.
- Plains, flower forests, and meadows: groups of 2–4
- Taigas, snowy taigas, and groves: groups of 2–3
- Snowy plains and snowy slopes: groups of 1–2, on snow
They can also be spawned from the Patchwork Hare Spawn Egg or with the summon command shown in Quickstart.
Taming
Hold a carrot and use it on a wild Patchwork Hare. Each carrot has a chance to tame it, so continue feeding carrots until hearts appear and the hare becomes yours.
Tamed hares follow their owner and can teleport when they get too far away. Use the normal interact control on a tamed hare to make it sit or stand.
Carrying a Hare
Craft and hold a Patchwork Hare Purse, then use it on a tamed Patchwork Hare.
The purse preserves the hare’s:
- Coat
- Name
- Baby or adult state
- Current health
A filled purse stores one hare. Use it when you want to release the hare. It appears about one and a half blocks in the direction you are looking, so make sure there is enough room. If there is no room, the hare remains in the purse.
Only tamed Patchwork Hares can be stored.
Repainting a Hare
Hold the Patchwork Hare Paint Tool, look directly at a tamed rabbit, and use the tool. Choose a coat from the Patchwork Hare Paint menu.
The tool can be reused and does not require a separate dye for each coat.
Crafting And Obtaining
Both items are crafted at a crafting table. They can also be obtained from the Creative inventory.

- 1 white dye
- 1 feather
- 1 stick
Place the white dye above the feather, with the stick below the feather.
The paint tool does not stack.
For command-based Creative testing:

Abilities And Mechanics
Available Coats
The paint menu includes:
| Coat | Coat | Coat |
|---|---|---|
| Brown Patchwork | White Patchwork | Black Patchwork |
| Splotched Patchwork | Golden Patchwork | Salt-and-Pepper Patchwork |
| Lavender Patchwork | Mint Patchwork | Dragon Patchwork |
| Coral Patchwork | Twilight Patchwork | Rose Patchwork |
| Meadow Patchwork |
Changing a coat does not remove taming, the hare’s name, or its other stored properties.
Breeding
Adult Patchwork Hares can breed with other adult Patchwork Hares. Breeding does not require the parents to be tamed.
Use any of these items on both adults:
- Carrot
- Golden carrot
- Dandelion
Baby hares follow their parents and grow into adults over time. Feeding them the same food helps them grow.
Health And Movement
Patchwork Hares have three points of maximum health. They can jump, climb, float, and path over water, but they avoid water when traveling. They panic and run quickly when frightened.
Drops
An adult Patchwork Hare can drop:
- 0–1 rabbit hide
- 0–1 rabbit meat
- A rabbit foot with a low chance when killed by a player
A hare killed while on fire can drop cooked rabbit instead. Looting can increase the relevant drops.
Progression And Strategy
- Tame a hare before exploring dangerous areas so it can follow you and be carried when necessary.
- Name important companions before storing them in a purse; their names are preserved.
- Carry a filled purse when traveling through caves, oceans, or crowded areas.
- Keep an empty purse available if you regularly move a hare between bases.
- Use the paint tool after taming to collect and display the Dragon, Coral, Twilight, Rose, and Meadow coats.
- Breed adults to build a larger hare collection, then repaint the offspring to match your preferred color theme.
