Whats up guys racing raftaar here again. Today i am bringing you a really crazy and terrifying behavior pack for your survival worlds. So we all know what happens when night time comes in vanilla minecraft. You just place down a bed, click it, and boom it is morning again. Sleeping is basically just a skip button for the game and it makes the night time completely useless and boring. I really wanted to change this and make the night actually scary again. So i created the Nightmare Mode addon. This pack literally forces you to fight for your life in your own dreams. When you go to sleep you dont just wake up in the morning peacefully anymore. You enter a terrifying wave based survival minigame where the darkness tries to consume you.

How To Enter The Nightmare

So starting this minigame is super simple but it only works during the night time. You dont need any weird command blocks or setups. You just hold a normal book in your hand and sneak. This opens the main UI menu on your screen. From the menu you just click Start Nightmare. The moment you click it your screen goes almost completely black. The game gives you intense blindness and darkness effects so you can barely see a few blocks in front of you. You will start hearing these really creepy ambient cave sounds playing in your ears. It makes you feel super claustrophobic and trapped. Then the nightmare actually begins and mobs start spawning in a circle all around you in the dark.

The 10 Waves Of Terror

You have to survive exactly 10 waves of monsters to wake up from the nightmare. Wave 1 is pretty easy it just spawns some zombies so you can warm up. But as you progress the waves get insanely hard. You will be fighting skeletons, cave spiders, creepers and blazes. By wave 8 you are dealing with wither skeletons and phantoms swooping down at you from the dark sky. And if you somehow make it to wave 10 you actually have to fight a Warden as the final boss. While you are fighting all these mobs the game will randomly send creepy whispers in the chat. It will say things in grey text like look behind you or there is no waking up. It genuinely messes with your head when you are trying to focus on surviving.

Rewards And The Void Event

Now you are probably thinking why would i even do this and risk dying. Well the rewards are incredibly good. If you survive all 10 waves and kill the boss you get a massive payout of Diamonds and Experience Bottles directly in your inventory. If you clear wave 8 or higher you also get free Netherite Scraps. I also added a streak multiplier system.

If you survive multiple nightmares in a row without dying you build a streak. A 5x or 10x streak gives you massive multipliers to your diamond and xp rewards. But here is the craziest part. Every time you start a nightmare there is a super rare 1 percent chance that you get pulled into a Void Nightmare instead of a normal one. The chat turns purple and the game tells you the void wants your soul. If you survive a Void Nightmare you literally get 5 times the normal rewards. It is the ultimate jackpot. But if you die during any nightmare you lose your entire survival streak and you wake up as a failure.

Ranks And Server Leaderboard

Because i know you guys love playing on SMPs and realms with your friends I built a full competitive system into this pack. In the book menu there is a Leaderboard tab. It tracks every single player on the server and shows exactly how many nightmares they have survived, their current win streak and their total mob kills. You also earn Ranks as you play. You start as a Dreamer but as you survive 50 or 100 nightmares you rank up to Sleepless, Void Walker and finally The Nightmare rank at 200 wins. Every time you hit a big milestone like 10 or 50 wins the server broadcasts it to everyone and you get free netherite ingots as a gift. There are also some really funny easter egg messages if you hit specific numbers like 69 or 420 or 666 nightmares survived.

Beta APIs Setup

You guys already know the drill by now. Because this pack uses dynamic properties to permanently save your ranks, streaks and kill stats for the leaderboard, you absolutely must turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings before you play. It also uses scripts to manage the UI menus and the wave spawning logic. So if you dont toggle the beta apis on, the book menu will not open and the nightmare will never start.
