Natural Disasters: Cataclysm turns Minecraft into a dynamic disaster survival experience. Instead of playing a simple particle effect, every event has its own warning phase, cinematic atmosphere, physical forces, gameplay consequences and configurable interaction with the world.

Events are selected according to the player's environment. Ocean threats stay in the ocean, cave disasters target underground explorers, altitude events threaten elytra users, and the Nether and End have their own cataclysms. The natural event director prevents incompatible random disasters from starting at the same time.

Back up important worlds. Many disasters can permanently break or place blocks. Terrain damage can be disabled or limited in the configuration files.

More than random destruction

  • Weighted categories make minor events more common and extreme cataclysms rare.
  • Earthquakes use decimal magnitudes up to M10.0 and can create major fissures.
  • Tornadoes and hurricanes use intensity categories with visible wind, debris, suction, lift and controlled player launching.
  • Ocean events create currents, waves, temporary or permanent flooding and physical effects on boats and entities.
  • Cave events use falling blocks and connected underground spaces to collapse or flood tunnels.
  • High-altitude events interfere with elytra flight and punish exposed players.
  • Nether and End events use dimension-specific terrain, atmosphere and hazards.
  • Some disasters can intentionally trigger another event, such as an undersea earthquake producing a tsunami or a magmatic rupture producing a lava surge.
